Service bulletins for the 2011 Audi S4
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.
775 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

2022-08-01. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. To ensure mobility, a small amount of fuel is still available when a fuel range of zero miles is initially displayed. Additionally, the fuel range is calculated based on the most recent driving style. Therefore, the actual amount of fuel remaining may vary when a fuel range of zero is initially displayed.
2022-08-01. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. A small amount of dry or crusted coolant is seen on the coolant pump housing (Figure 1, Figure 2, and Figure 3). The coolant level warning is not on. A minor coolant leak is possible during the break-in phase of the coolant seal on the coolant pump. The dry coolant marks are normal.
2022-08-01. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:RADIATOR ASSEMBLY. When vehicles are driven on gravel roads, there is a greater chance of front-end stone impact damage to the intercooler radiator (Figure 1).
2022-08-01. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:RADIATOR ASSEMBLY. When vehicles are driven on gravel roads, there is a greater chance of front-end stone impact damage to the intercooler radiator (Figure 1).
2022-08-01. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:OIL/LUBRICATION. A check with the engine oil service dipstick T40178 is necessary, but the adjustment values for the dipstick are not available in the Elsa repair manual. Because of a system change, the adjustment values for the service dipstick T40178 were removed from the repair manual.
2022-08-01. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION. The message ?Oil minimum warning, add one quart of oil? appears in the instrument cluster, but the oil level is above the minimum level (when measured with special tool T40178). ? There are no DTCs related to oil level stored in the ECM memory. The oil level sensor is defective.
2022-08-01. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING.
BACK OVER PREVENTION:DISPLAY FUNCTION. The customer complains of one or more of the following issues: ? When the vehicle is completely refueled, the vehicle range (?distance to empty?) that is displayed is different than the vehicle range that was displayed the last time the vehicle was completely refueled. ? The displayed vehicle range drops inconsistently. ? After the vehicle is refueled, the displayed vehicle range does not change for a long period of time. ? When the vehicle is driven on hilly roads for a long period of time, the displayed vehicle range suddenly changes by a significant amount. ? There are no DTCs related to fuel senders stored in the instrument cluster control module, J285 (address word 17). This condition does not involve or affect the accuracy of the fuel level indicator, but only the estimated distance to empty display on the on-board computer.
2022-08-01. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:OIL/LUBRICATION. Engine oil consumption - Customer complaints, 3.0T TFSI Model Year 2009 ? 2012
2022-08-01. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; SERVICE BRAKES. In order to provide effective lubrication and cooling of internal engine components, all internal combustion engines consume a certain amount of engine oil. Oil consumption varies from engine to engine and may change significantly over the life of the engine. Typically engines with specified break-in periods consume more oil during the break-in period, and the oil consumption will stabilize after the break-in period. Refer to the Owner? s Manual for specific break-in procedures. Under normal conditions, the rate of oil consumption depends on the quality and viscosity of the oil, the RPM at which the engine is operated, the ambient temperature, and road conditions. Additional factors are the amount of oil dilution from water condensation or fuel residue and the oxidation level of the oil. Under certain driving conditions internal engine pressure conditions in the 3.0 TFSI engine can negatively influence the rate of oil consumption. This condition can occur while the vehicle is operated in metro driving conditions, for example: Stop and go traffic with extended idle periods.
2022-08-01. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. The programmed values for the misfire adaption are not automatically reset when the memory is deleted. The adaption must be reset after the engine is installed.
2022-08-01. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. Under certain driving conditions, the secondary air ports in the cylinder head can accumulate carbon over time, causing a restriction.
2022-08-01. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECU/ECM). Customer vehicle is fitted with unauthorized ECM tuning.
2022-08-01. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Under certain driving conditions, the secondary air ports in the cylinder head can accumulate carbon over time, causing a restriction. The ODIS tester can identify the state of the restriction, and will request that the system is cleaned in order to prevent the MIL from illuminating.
2022-08-01. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Under certain driving conditions, the secondary air ports in the cylinder head can accumulate carbon over time, causing a restriction.
2022-08-01. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. The oil pressure switch is defective.
2022-08-01. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. Under extreme driving conditions (such as short-distance, stop-and-go driving), high crankcase pressure can cause the DTCs to appear. The condition can be improved and the DTCs eliminated when the crankcase pressure valve is changed to a lower operating pressure and the ECM software is updated to compensate for new crankcase pressure.
2022-08-01. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. Updated oil pressure switch
| John Bean | 2022-08-01. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. Update Installation Instructions. |
