Service bulletins for the 2013 Audi RS 5

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

A441339 2030275-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. STEERING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 44 number 13-37 dated February 25, 2013. Vehicle pulls - left or right. Steering wheel not leveled or off-center. In some cases both concerns may be reported. the alignment concern is due to outside influence (e.g. accident), this TSB does not apply.
A371309 2028715-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 37 number 12-40 dated February 28, 2012. Rough gear changes, both when accelerating and when slowing down. There is a rough driving power disruption that occurs sporadically and lasts for less than a second. After a mechatronics, torque converter, or complete gearbox replacement, the clutches must be adapted to the new component. This requires a gradual move of the clutch linings toward the optimal operating points in the most diverse load conditions. As a result, sporadic driving power disruptions lasting for less than a second or reduced shift comfort are possible over the first 500 miles. This is normal, and these issues will decrease over time. The issues can also occur if the adaptation values of the gearbox were deleted.
A351313 2030477-2017-12-05. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 35 number 13-10 dated May 7, 2013. The following message appears in the information display: "Gearbox malfunction: you can continue driving". Fault entries are stored in the transmission control module. Fault codes and expanded environmental conditions codes must match exactly or this TSB should not be followed. Poor internal contact area on circuit board will lead to faults. Oil additives can cause the plastic circuit plates to delaminate, causing contact loss.
A961351 2031095-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 96 number 13-49 dated February 1, 2013. Audi Side Assist deactivates itself immediately after the engine starts. DTC C1115F2 (Lane change assistance control module 2 Function limitation due to insufficient voltage) is logged in the lane change assistance control module, J769 (3C). The lane change assistance control module, J769 (3C), checks voltage after each engine on cycle. During this check, the voltage can be incorrectly reported which causes the DTC to set.
A961350 2032225-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 96 number 12-46 dated December 21, 2012. The customer complains of the following warning message in the Driver Information Center: "Lane change assistant not available", and the button on the mirror does not stay lit. Audi Side Assist is inoperative. DTCs must be present in the system. Incorrect component installed at the factory.
A911374 2024323-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION: CAMERA SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 12-61 dated October 1, 2012. Parking aid sporadically warns of obstacles when none exist. Parking aid is inoperative or provides constant warning. Various parking aid sensor fitting issues. Environmental conditions.
A441337 2030275-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION; STEERING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 44 number 12-34 dated November 13, 2012. Customers may report the following conditions on vehicles with less than 6000 miles. In some cases these conditions may be noticed at PDI. Vehicle pulls - left or right. Steering wheel not leveled or off-center. If the alignment concern is due to outside influence (e.g. accident), this TSB does not apply.
A441336 2022563-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 44 number 13-35 dated January 18, 2013. Customer feels vibration from 55 - 80 mph (88 - 128 km/h) in the seat, vehicle floor, footwell, pedals, or steering wheel. This condition does not result in any handling concerns or loss of vehicle control.
A011369 2028344-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 01 number 12-57 dated October 29, 2012. Noises/inconsistent engine operation after cold start during the catalyst heating phase. The customer may interpret this engine roughness as misfiring. To comply with the legal requirements on exhaust gas emissions according to the LEV-1 and LEV-2 standards, a high exhaust gas quality must be ensured. The necessary catalyst only operates at a temperature over 300°C (572°F). To achieve this, the catalyst is heated up. The catalyst heating phase is achieved by a late ignition angles and by introducing additional fresh air to the exhaust valves (secondary air system). Late ignition angles make sure that the exhaust gas from the cylinders has a higher temperature. This exhaust gas includes fuel that is un-burnt, and was deliberately injected into great quantities. The secondary air system adds fresh air to the exhaust gas as it leaves the cylinder and the extra fuel is burnt. As a result, the temperatures of the exhaust gas and of the catalyst increase quickly. The afterburning in the exhaust manifold before the catalyst changes the sound characteristic of the engine. This heating-up of the catalyst, including afterburning, is normal and has no effect on the service life of the engine. During this catalyst heating phase, the engine has increased idle speed, may have increased vibrations, and has a different sound characteristic. Depending on conditions, the time of the catalyst heating phase varies.
A941314 2033536-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS. A significant amount of water is collecting at the base of the Xenon headlight lens. No outside influence, such as rock chips, can be found. The headlights function normally. If the customer complaint is only about condensation buildup on the fog lamp (not about water collecting as described above), refer to TSB 2012749, 94 Exterior lights, moisture accumulation. Under certain circumstances, water can enter through the headlight adjustment screw (A4), or through the bonding channel between the headlight housing and lens (A5).
A351309 2028085-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 35 number 12-07 dated December 21, 2012. Customer may report that there is oil leaking under the vehicle. There are a number of possible sources for the leak. Leaking from the oil pan seal. Crack in the oil pan. Leak between gearbox housing and intermediate housing. The source of the leak may be confused with o-ring of drain plug.
A271317 2033524-2017-11-17. Service bulletin. VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:CRUISE CONTROL. Cruise control deactivates sporadically or cannot be activated. A new set speed cannot be saved. Customer complains of a "popping" noise from the radio followed by 10-15 seconds of no audio. The concern can happen in any audio source. Vehicle is equipped with MMI 3G or MMI 3G+ infotainment systems. Vehicle is not equipped with Bose or Bang & Olufsen sound systems. An ignition cycle is not required for audio to resume. The problem originates in the HD radio code, which can create a "resetting" within the radio unit. Because the tuner is always active in the background, the problem can occur regardless of the audio source or if the HD radio is on or off. It can also occur at any point that the MMI is on, but not necessarily active. For example, the customer opens a door and the MMI starts up. Even though the system is not ?on? because the ignition is not active, the tuner is running and can create the effect.
