Service bulletins for the 2011 Audi Q5
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| A911314 2013790- | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM); EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 11-25 dated November 29, 2011. The navigation DVD or other CD/DVD cannot be ejected. There are no DTCs stored in the corresponding module. The eject button is not stuck. When the eject button is pushed, the drive does not sound as if it is trying to eject the CD/DVD. Vehicles with DVD-based navigation systems now have the navigation DVD installed during production. To prevent theft of the DVD during transportation, the eject button of the navigation drive is disabled. The navigation system itself (e.g., route guidance) functions as specified. The eject buttons of vehicles without DVD-based navigation systems are not disabled during production, but could behave as described in the Condition section of this bulletin. The eject button can be enabled through Guided Fault Finding. |

Presence of the message does not indicate that the ignition switch is faulty; the message typically has a different root cause. Replacing the ignition switch before completing GFF test plans typically does not correct the condition. |
| A661338 2035673- | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:REARVIEW MIRRORS/DEVICES:EXTERIOR. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 66 number 13-37 dated November 4, 2013. Customer may report hearing wind noise from the front door area when the vehicle is driven at highway speeds. After diagnosis, it is determined that the source of the wind noise is the exterior rear view mirrors. Throughout the development of the Audi Q5 and Audi Q7, various features have been added to the exterior rear view mirrors. The added features include the turn signal lamp, side assist lamp, perimeter lamp, etc. As the complexity of the exterior rear view mirror increases, the mirrors become more susceptible to wind noise. The two main sources of wind noise from the exterior rear view mirrors are: the seam surrounding the turn signal lamp and the seam at the mirror base. The modifications explained in the Service section of this bulletin will effectively mitigate the wind noise symptom for the customer. |

| Update Bulletin- | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Rough idle or reduced driving power and, in turn, an illuminated Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) on the instrument cluster due to the presence of specific fault codes caused by this component. This Update is in effect until removed. Procedure is valid only for vehicles that show the 28G6 code in the ElsaWeb Campaign/Action Information screen on the day of repair. Vehicle must be within the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Procedure must be performed within the allotted time frame stated in this Technical Service Bulletin. The customer may report hearing noises when operating the window or noises from inside the door when driving on rough roads. Wheel bolt requires torque adjustment. Torque sticks, torque extension bars, and impact guns/wrenches are not approved by Audi of America, Inc., and should not be used to apply torque to wheel bolts. Always use a calibrated torque wrench to attain the correct wheel bolt torque and follow the proper wheel tightening procedure as outlined in Elsa. Proper use of a calibrated torque wrench ensures that all wheel bolts are tightened equally and reduces the chances of repeat repairs. Using methods other than a calibrated torque wrench to attain correct wheel bolt torque may lead to problems. |
| A401337 2035854- | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC; SUSPENSION. The customer reports hearing a rattling or knocking noise when the car is driven over bumps or uneven road surfaces. The noise is noticed after the car has been driven for a while and is warmed-up, and when the temperature outside is warm. The condition can be duplicated if the brakes are applied while the car is driven over bumps. High ambient temperatures at the hydraulic guide links cause the noise. |

During reset of the service reminder, the message ?AIR system - action required - observe test plan? appears on the ODIS tester. MIL is not illuminated. Under certain driving conditions, the secondary air ports in the cylinder head can accumulate carbon over time, causing a restriction. The ODIS tester can identify the state of the restriction, and will request that the system is cleaned in order to prevent the MIL from illuminating. |
