All systems on Audi vehicles are engineered to work together using the factory calibrations, which have been extensively tested and validated before the vehicle is released for sale. The Audi warranty coverage is based on the results of developing the vehicle under the factory calibration. If a vehicle is equipped with unauthorized hardware or software tuning, it can cause stress on vehicle components outside of intended design limits, and can cause damage and additional wear. Subsequently, factory powertrain warranty coverage is reduced or voided.

AWA-13-022017-11-17. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. During the launch of the new Audi A8L TDI, authorized Audi dealers must participate in the Audi A8L TDI Launch Allowance Program. A Technical Assistance Center (TAC) ticket must be created prior to any repair related to the TDI engine, diesel fuel delivery, exhaust aftertreatment system, or transmission issues, and each ticket must include diagnostic logs and a detailed summary for each customer concern. The ticket must be activated by calling the TAC for further instructions; the case number assigned must be recorded on the repair order. The concern must be corrected after authorization. Findings must be reported to close the TAC ticket. Part(s) replaced under warranty must be sent to the Warranty Parts Return Center (WPRC) within 48 hours after completing the repair. Some vehicles may experience a limp home mode condition due to DPF soot accumulation which could cause the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) to come on. This Update is in effect until removed. Procedure is valid only for vehicles that show the 23M6 code in the Elsa Campaign/Action Information screen on the day of repair. Vehicle must be within the Federal Emissions. Procedure must be performed within the allotted time frame stated in this Technical Service Bulletin. Procedure must be performed on applicable vehicles in dealer inventory prior to sale. Some vehicles may experience a limp home mode condition due to DPF soot accumulation which could cause the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) to come on.
