Service bulletins for the 2011 Audi A8

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

A201432 2035073-2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. upersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 20 number 14-31 dated January 9, 2014. The MIL is on. DTC P045600 (EVAP System Leak Detected NVLD (very small leak)) is stored in the engine control module (ECM), J623 (address word 01). Drivability is not affected. The NVLD pressure switch may erroneously detect a very small leak.
A191448 2036477-2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM. The red coolant warning light may be on. The customer may complain that there is coolant loss. There is evidence of dried coolant from two leakage holes on the drive of the coolant pump. The coolant pump is sealed with a slip ring seal to the input shaft. To prevent the seal from drying out, a minor coolant leak is necessary to keep the seal lubricated. Excess coolant from the minor leak is discharged through two leakage holes on the coolant pump. This minor leak is normal operation of the coolant pump, and it is not responsible for coolant loss. This discharged coolant may dry and encrust the coolant pump.
A011472 2036687-2017-11-08. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM); ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. The MIL is on. DTCs are stored in the ECM. The customer reports that the engine may sporadically run rough, but without significant loss of power or stalling. The ECM software needs to be updated. Additionally, the intake camshaft position sensors, G40 and G163, need to be replaced due to an internal electrical issue.
A011468 2027732-2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 01 number 13-21 dated August 9, 2013. The MIL is on. DTC P045600 (very small EVAP leak) stored in engine control module (ECM), J623 (address word 01). No leaks found in the EVAP system. Software update needed.
A011462 2036169-2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 01 number 14-59 dated January 21, 2014. The MIL is on. DTC may be stored in the ECM. Drivability concerns such as hard starting/no starting are present. Outside temperature is sub-freezing. In tank, fuel pump may be making a straining noise.
A011459 2036169-2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 01 number 14-55 dated January 8, 2014. The MIL is on. DTC P0087 may be stored in the ECM. Drivability concerns such as hard starting/no starting are present. Outside temperature is sub-freezing. In tank, fuel pump may be making a straining noise.
A011455 2036169-2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ENGINE; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP. The MIL is on. DTC P0087 may be stored in the ECM. Drivability concerns such as hard starting/no starting are present. Outside temperature is sub-freezing. In tank, fuel pump may be making a straining noise. Diesel fuel requires additive blending or ?winterization? to be useable at low temperatures. At temperatures below 20° F (-7° C), No. 2 Diesel with insufficient winterization blending may lose its fluidity due to wax separation. This may clog the fuel filter or in-tank filter, preventing the engine from operating properly. No. 2 Diesel is blended by refineries to various levels of winterization (minimum useable temperature) based on month, geographical location, and the 10th percentile minimum ambient air temperature for the given region. Although rare, during sudden periods of extreme low temperatures (record lows), fuel stations may not be adequately prepared with No. 2 Diesel fuel with sufficient winterization to resist wax formation or ?gelling?.
A001458 2026692-2017-11-08. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION; ENGINE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 00 number 12-43 dated December 21, 2012. If a 2012 - 2015 Audi A8 L W12 arrives at an Audi dealership and requires diagnosis or repair, a Repair Authorization must be obtained. Prior to any repair, a Technical Assistance Center (TAC) ticket must be created for engine and transmission concerns only. Routine maintenance and PDI do not require prior authorization or a Technical Assistance Center (TAC) ticket. These procedures are mandatory until further notice. Warranty repairs without repair authorization via a TAC contact will not be reimbursed.
Reference-Oil Ca2017-11-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE; EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. This document contains the Audi oil capacity chart.
A871346 2035582-2017-11-03. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. The A/C Compressor has been diagnosed as faulty and will be replaced under warranty. When performing replacement of an A/C Compressor under warranty, the amount of refrigerant and oil recovered must be documented.
A011343 2028445-2017-10-31. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM); ENGINE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 24 number 12-11 dated January 25, 2012. MIL on, often illuminating at temperatures below 0°C/32°F. DTC is store in the engine control module. Optimized software in the engine control module.
A871345 2024644-2017-10-31. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:HOSES/LINES/PIPING/FITTINGS. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 87 number 13-41 dated May 30, 2013. Moisture in the driver or front passenger foot well. Due to a faulty and/or incorrectly installed condensation drain hose, condensation from the evaporator could enter the front foot well areas through a gap between the body and the sealing surface of the drain hose.
A101310 2018288-2017-10-31. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 10 number 10-02 dated September 14, 2010. Prior to engine replacement, any debris lodged in transferred assemblies must be removed. If the vehicle's engine experienced a serious mechanical problem, it is possible that small pieces of metal debris resulting from the mechanical problem may have become deposited in the intake manifold, air intake hoses, exhaust manifolds, exhaust down-pipes, turbocharger, supercharger, and/or intercooler. If these pieces are not removed prior to the installation and operation of the replacement engine, the pieces may be drawn into the combustion chamber, which can cause a knocking noise and subsequent serious engine damage.
