Service bulletins for the 2012 Audi A6
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| A871340 2029136- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 87 number 12-35 dated November 14, 2012. The customer may report that after selecting a specific temperature in AUTO mode, the resulting airflow and temperature are uncomfortable. The customer complaint is subjective and may be difficult to diagnose during a road test. Please test drive with the customer before as well as after this repair to ensure a thorough understanding of the customer's concern. At certain outside temperatures and operating conditions, the temperature in the passenger compartment fluctuates. This is caused by the unventilated sensor in the air conditioning control panel. There may also be DTCs stored for mechanical malfunction of one or more air distribution control motors in (08) air conditioning/heating control unit. |

| A571382 2017082- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 57 number 11-55 dated August 22, 2011. Central locking via remote control does not work either sporadically or permanently. The locks can still be operated manually. Missing synchronization between the remote control key and vehicle because the battery has been disconnected or the battery of the remote control has been replaced. If other senders operate in the same frequency range (mobile phones, TV stations, wireless headphones, baby monitors, other vehicle remote controls, etc.), the remote control key may have been temporarily switched off because a clear identification of the remote control key is not possible. This is necessary to prevent an unintentional unlocking of the vehicle by other unrelated senders. |
| A481336 2033044- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. STEERING; STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM. The customer states they have a comfort concern about the steering system. The steering works correctly but intermittently feels notchy. There is no loss of steering functionality. The concern may be more apparent in colder weather, and may improve with warmth or an ignition key cycle. No DTC is stored and no warning appears in the cluster. This PSS TSB applies only to the comfort concern described in the condition of this PSS TSB. Please refer to the attached Information and Q&A document for guidance when handling each case. A solution is in development and will be made available as soon as possible. The steering wheel is mechanically linked to the wheels of the vehicle, and there is no loss of steering functionality. Refer to the attached Information and Q&A document for guidance when handling each case. |
| A481335 2029622- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM; STEERING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 48 number 12-34 dated October 23, 2012. The yellow steering symbol is illuminated in the instrument cluster. DTC C10ACFO (steering end stops not programmed) is logged in the power steering control unit, J500 (44). The power steering control unit, J500 (44), expects to receive a VIN message over the data bus shortly after terminal 15 is turned on. If the VIN message is not received at the expected time, the power steering control unit assumes it has been installed in a new vehicle and discards the programmed end position values. |
| A441336 2022563- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 44 number 13-35 dated January 18, 2013. | A171336 2030197- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 17 number 12-34 dated December 12, 2012. Customer complains of excessive oil consumption. In order to provide effective lubrication and cooling of internal engine components, all internal combustion engines consume a certain amount of engine oil. Oil consumption varies from engine to engine and may change significantly over the life of the engine. Typically, engines with specified break-in periods consume more oil during the break-in period, and the oil consumption will stabilize after the break-in period. Refer to the Owner's Manual for specific break-in procedures. Under normal conditions, the rate of oil consumption depends on the quality and viscosity of the oil, the RPM at which the engine is operated, the ambient temperature, and road conditions. Additional factors are the amount of oil dilution from water condensation or fuel residue and the oxidation level of the oil. Under certain driving conditions, internal engine pressure conditions in the 3.0 TFSI engine can negatively influence the rate of oil consumption. This can occur while the vehicle is operated in city driving conditions, for example: stop and go traffic with extended idle periods. |
| A961355 2028809- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 96 number 13-52 dated February 25, 2013. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 37 number 13-97 dated March 4, 2013. Customer may report transmission warning lamp illuminated in instrument cluster. After ignition cycle, the warning message is no longer present. DTC P074100 (Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance) or "Stuck Off" is stored in transmission control module (TCM), J217 (address word 03). The fault occurs with ATF temperature below 60o C. Check for this temperature range in the extended environmental conditions of the diagnosis protocol. This TSB only applies if the ATF level is correct and there are no leaks. |
| A211313 2031245- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:GASOLINE:TURBO/SUPERCHARGER. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 21 number 13-12 dated April 1, 2013. MIL on, DTC P0299 (Negative Pressure Deviation) is stored. Turbocharger waste gate flap has play. Under certain driving conditions, the linkage for the waste gate actuation can encounter excessive wear which leads to play at the waste gate flap. This leads to boost escaping through a loose flap, which sets DTC P0299 (Negative Pressure Deviation). |
| A211312 2031245- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:GASOLINE:TURBO/SUPERCHARGER. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 21 number 13-11 dated March 6, 2013. |
| A191336 2033491- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Customer may report coolant leaking from the engine area. The leak can be traced to the connection of the water pump and the hose leading to the heater core. The seal ring is not the cause of the leak. |
| A011386 2033630- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; ENGINE. MIL on. Rough idle. DTCs are stored in the Engine Control Module (ECM), J623 (address word 01). Engine may have reduced performance without significant loss of power or stalling. Because there are a number of different misfire faults (unrelated to ignition coil operation) that could cause the MIL to illuminate, proper Guided Fault Finding (GFF) misfire diagnosis must be followed before any ignition coils are replaced. |
