Service bulletins for the 2012 Audi A6
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

The yellow gearbox warning light may be illuminated. Entries are logged in the respected modules. The remote key the customer is using is transmitting incomplete immobilizer information to the vehicle; resulting in the condition. |
| A901235 2030903- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; LANE DEPARTURE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 90 number 12 ? 34 dated September 21, 2012. When driving, various warning lights come on, sometimes with restricted functions in the electric system. These complaints only occur together with complaints or a failure of the MMI 3G+ infotainment system. After an ignition cycle the complaint is typically gone; therefore, it may not be reproducible. Sporadic DTCs may be present for communication errors, restricted functions, or missing/incorrect messages. If the MMI 3G+ has an issue, the data bus control unit (Gateway) tries to maintain the communication to the MMI. The load on the unit is so high that other messages on the bus systems cannot be processed any more. As a remedy, modified software can be installed on the Gateway which does not communicate to the MMI 3G+ when it is unavailable. |
| A901236 2029843- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; STRUCTURE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 90 number 12 ? 29 dated June 15, 2012. The customer may report hearing a rattle sound coming from near the Heads up Display when driving over various road surfaces. The dimensional tolerances of the internal components of the Heads up Display may be in a condition that allows excessive clearance, and the possibility for a rattle noise. |
| A911262 2024323- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 10 - 60 dated September 28, 2010. Parking aid sporadically warns of obstacles when none exist. Parking aid is inoperative or provides constant warning. Various parking aid sensor fitting issues. Environmental conditions. |
| A911263 2021151- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 11 ? 83 dated April 15, 2011. The customer may report that the illumination of the dash insert, the air conditioning control panel or the inside light flickers when briefly pressing the accelerator in P or N or when shifting down while driving downhill. Only vehicles with PR number 8GH may be affected. When high electricity consumers are switched off and the battery is fully charged, the energy generated by the alternator is sometimes too great for the power system to absorb. This may lead to briefly increased voltage, and the lights mentioned above may briefly flicker. This characteristic is caused by the alternator design and is a normal condition of the vehicle. |
| A911264 2031367- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.; EQUIPMENT. CD or DVD disks do not automatically change from one to the next in the external CD or DVD changer. The CD and DVD changer have different operating concepts. MMI3G: Disks in the CD changer are always automatically changed from one to the next. MMI3G+ (with Audi connect): Disks in the CD changer are automatically changed from one to the next, but this operation is disabled when the Repeat option is turned on in the Media Settings menu. By default (MMI factory default setting) the repeat option is set to ? Off?. DVD changer (A8 only): Disks in the DVD changer can only be changed manually. |
| A911265 2030465- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.; EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. HD Radio does not playback in stereo. HD Radio experiences poor blending between digital and analog signals. Google Earth does not properly update the maps after leaving an area of 2G or poor cellular reception. The lower MMI display flickers when an iPod is connected and the Function or Settings menu is selected and the vehicle is stationary. Bluetooth® will not automatically reconnect to certain iPhone models after vehicle sleep. Surround settings are lost after ignition cycle (vehicles equipped with BOSE® sound systems only). This bulletin only applies to vehicles with Navigation Plus (PR Number 8DY). The applicable vehicles can be clearly identified by the SIM card slot on the faceplate of the front MMI mainunit. Continual improvements to MMI software provides solutions to issues experienced in the field. |
| A941292 2012749- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. EXTERIOR LIGHTING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 94 number 11-52 dated October 11, 2011. Condensation is visible on the inside of the headlight, taillight, fog light, side marker light, front turn signal, daytime running lights, or third brake light lens. Damp air settles on the inside of a cold lens, which creates condensation. The headlight circulation system allows air from the outside to flow through the headlights. This open waterprotected ventilation system (needed for pressure compensation) creates different climate zones in the headlight: very warm areas, where the lens is warmed up by the light, and relatively cool areas, where the lens is cooled own by the air flow. Considerable differences in humidity and temperature between the inside and the outside of the headlights, even while driving, can lead to condensation. This is especially true in cold and wet weather, but it can also happen after a car wash, after steam cleaning the engine or the front end, with overnight temperature changes, etc. This phenomenon is more visible on lenses made of clear glass than on lenses with patterns. The moisture does not affect the headlight function (light performance) and does not lead to corrosion or other damage to headlight parts. |
| A941293 2031378- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS:SWITCH. Cap on dimmer (light switch) has fallen off and cannot be found. |
| A941294 2031228- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. EXTERIOR LIGHTING. One or both headlights are cracked or leaking. Cracks on the headlight (upper section between hood and quarterpanel, and lower headlight cover). No evidence of headlight or body damage. This condition affects all variants of headlights. If neither headlight exhibits any type of cracking, this Repair Authorization does not apply. Additional analysis to aid in issue diagnosis necessitates this repair authorization. Through our combined efforts and cooperation, we will be able to raise the level of Audi quality and overall customer satisfaction. |
| A961244 2028809- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 96 number 12-41 dated August 1, 2012. MIL on with one or more DTCs. The faults listed can occur under certain driving conditions. This is caused by an incorrect software setting. In some scenarios such as extended idling or heavy stop and go traffic, this could cause a slight misinterpretation of the data and possibly an activation of the Malfunction Indicator Light. |
| A011263 2031458- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ENGINE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 01 number 12-58 dated November 5, 2012. MIL on, with DTCs stored in the 01 (Engine Control Module). Under extreme driving conditions, such as a driving profile of mainly short distance (stop and go) driving high crankcase pressure can lead to the above described DTC codes. By changing the crankcase pressure valve to a lower operating pressure this condition can be improved and eliminate the mentioned possible DTC codes. Along with the crankcase pressure being lowered, a new ECM software level is required to compensate for new crankcase pressure. |
| A021202 2032094- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN. Customer may report transmission warning light comes on. No drivability/starting concerns. GFF scan shows fault code- P060300 (Control Module Malfunctioning, Sporadic), stored in the Transmission control module (02). The entry is caused by a too sensitive diagnosis in the gearbox control unit. This does not affect the driving characteristics. |
| A171234 2030197- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ENGINE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 17 number 12-33 dated November 21, 2012. Engine oil consumption too high. In order to provide effective lubrication and cooling of internal engine components, all internal combustion engines consume a certain amount of engine oil. Oil consumption varies from engine to engine and may change significantly over the life of the engine. Typically engines with specified break-in periods consume more oil during the break-in period, and the oil consumption will stabilize after the break-in period. Refer to the Owner? s Manual for specific break-in procedures. Under normal conditions, the rate of oil consumption depends on the quality and viscosity of the oil, the RPM at which the engine is operated, the ambient temperature, and road conditions. Additional factors are the amount of oil dilution from water condensation or fuel residue and the oxidation level of the oil. Under certain driving conditions internal engine pressure conditions in the 3.0 TFSI engine can negatively influence the rate of oil consumption. This condition can occur while the vehicle is operated in metro driving conditions, for example: Stop and go traffic with extended idle periods. |
| A371277 2029027- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 37 number 12-67 dated September 28, 2012. Customer may report gearbox warning light on. In some cases after starting vehicle and placing into gear the vehicle would not move. After key cycle the vehicle drives without restriction. The entry P060A00 with DFCC 8692 can be logged in the following situation: After selecting Neutral, a driving mode (D or R) is selected within one second while the vehicle rolls (at under 2 mph). This can, for example, happen when maneuvering the vehicle into or from a parking area. The entry P060A00 with DFCC 8694 can be logged when quickly changing from P-N because of a low diagnosis threshold. The entry P060A00 with DFCC 12480 can be logged because of a low diagnosis threshold when changing gear with the tip function. |
