Service bulletins for the 2010 Audi A6
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| A011263 2031458- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ENGINE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 01 number 12-58 dated November 5, 2012. MIL on, with DTCs stored in the 01 (Engine Control Module). Under extreme driving conditions, such as a driving profile of mainly short distance (stop and go) driving high crankcase pressure can lead to the above described DTC codes. By changing the crankcase pressure valve to a lower operating pressure this condition can be improved and eliminate the mentioned possible DTC codes. Along with the crankcase pressure being lowered, a new ECM software level is required to compensate for new crankcase pressure. |
| A901238 2032113- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT. The customer may state that the outside ambient temperature display is incorrect. To achieve a smoothening effect of the displayed outside ambient temperature, the value shown does not instantaneously follow the temperature sensor measurement. The display will not change faster than 4° F (2° C) per minute. This concept applies to both falling and rising temperatures. A programming strategy is also implemented to avoid incorrect readings on a parked vehicle, due to the temperature sensor being affected by outside influences such as radiant heat from the engine bay, elevated road surface temperatures, etc. |
| A941200 2024877- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 94 number 12-83 dated July 9, 2012. Warning light for dynamic headlight range control is displayed in the instrument cluster. DTC 00003 / 14 (Control unit faulty) is registered in the dynamic headlight range control unit, address word 55. Both headlights function normally. Vehicles equipped with adaptive (cornering) lighting. New software version 0010 in the dynamic headlight range control module addresses this condition. If the headlight range control module has a software version lower than 0010 installed, then use the SVM code listed in Service to update the module. Some control units will already have software version 0010 installed but can still exhibit the conditions mentioned above. When this occurs, the software will need to be reflashed using a separate SVM code. The corrupt software will be overwritten. The software version does not change after the update. |
| A571402 2022032- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 57 number 13-97 dated October 29, 2013. | A481459 2017266- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. STEERING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 48 number 13-51 dated August 30, 2013. Electrically-adjustable steering column adjustment is restricted and does not adjust vertically. Incorrect operation of Easy Entry is not the cause. It is unlikely that external forces have led to the loss of the stored end positions of the adjustment movement. See TSB 2015819, 48 Easy Entry function of the power adjustable steering column intermittently does not work, for more information. Seat adjustments can be used to maintain the 10-inch minimum recommended distance from the steering wheel in case of airbag deployment. The axial adjustment is still functional during this condition. The steering column may be under tension due to unfavorable tolerances of the steering column and module cross carrier. As a result, the current draw of the regulator motors is above specification, which causes the electric steering column adjustment to fail. Once the vehicle electrical system control module, J519 (address word 09), detects an excessive current draw, the basic settings will be erased. If basic settings are not stored in the vehicle electrical system control module, the module will not send voltage/current to the motor to operate the vertical adjustment. |
| A911437 2030947- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 13-92 dated July 16, 2013. The customer complains that when he or she is trying to place a phone call from the vehicle while using a Bluetooth®-connected phone, the phone call disconnects before it begins and an error shows on the MMI display. The message may be "Function not supported" or "Network error". The customer is using a phone with the Android operating system. In addition, Skype®, or another network-based communication software, is installed on the phone. Call can be placed directly from the phone without a problem. When the phone receives the request to place a call from the vehicle, a prompt appears on the phone asking the user to choose how the call should be placed. If the prompt is ignored, the MMI system disconnects the call because it assumes that the phone is not responding. |
| A271424 2025360- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 27 number 12-12 dated February 28, 2012. Customer may report that the vehicle does not start due to a discharged battery. The vehicle has either a battery diagnostic management control module or a battery energy management control module. This TSB provides basic diagnosis steps for discharged batteries, general tips for working with batteries, and system verification steps to ensure that the vehicle is configured correctly. |
| A171449 2028440- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 17 number 12-26 dated January 20, 2012. When the vehicle is completely refueled, the vehicle range (?distance to empty?) that is displayed is different than the vehicle range that was displayed the last time the vehicle was completely refueled. The displayed vehicle range drops inconsistently. After the vehicle is refueled, the displayed vehicle range does not change for a long period of time. When the vehicle is driven on hilly roads for a long period of time, the displayed vehicle range suddenly changes by a significant amount. There are no DTCs related to fuel senders stored in the instrument cluster control module, J285 (address word 17). This condition does not involve or affect the accuracy of the fuel level indicator, but only the estimated distance to empty display on the on-board computer. |

Battery testing and charging for vehicles equipped with a Battery Data Manager (BDM - J367). When the InCharge 940 is used as a battery charger in auto mode, it performs a battery condition test and may prematurely fail the battery if the charging takes place at the jumper posts in the engine compartment. This is due to the added resistance in the system between the battery and jumper posts. When the InCharge 940 is used as a battery charger in manual mode, the battery condition test is not performed. |
| A911598 2018187- | 2017-10-27. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 14-50 dated July 10, 2014. Customer may report that cracking, grinding, rattling, humming, whining, or similar interference is coming from one or more speakers. Parts of the speakers (such as the brackets, cables, or covers) or parts of the interior fittings (such as door covers, rear shelf, facings, or covers) can vibrate at certain frequencies, causing noises. The radio tuner or other control modules may be affected by electromagnetic interference from aftermarket electronic devices. |

Either action may cause intermittent electrical connections, which can cause sporadic DTCs to be stored in various control modules. |
| A911579 2038824- | 2017-10-21. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 14-69 dated November 4, 2014. The following message appears on the MMI display: "Device or cable type not supported". The AMI cable being used is a genuine Audi-branded cable with an Audi part number (see Required Parts and Tools for a list of valid part numbers). The "Device or cable type not supported" message may be displayed when an incorrect AMI cable type is connected to the MMI system. Only cables with an Audi part number (i.e., 4F0.XXX.XXX) are supported by the MMI system. Volkswagen-branded cables look similar, but are not guaranteed to work with Audi MMI systems. The label on the end of an Audi-branded cable has an Audi logo and Audi part number. Audi-branded cables have unique firmware inside the hardware that can determine which MMI system and iOS device are connected to the cable. Volkswagen cables do not have this firmware. The firmware is required to allow the system to function normally due to the different technology available in the different MMI systems and in the different iPhones and iPod Touch devices. In addition, the AMI system was designed to play the music stored locally on the connected device only. Music streaming (from Spotify or Pandora, for example) is not supported, and music stored in the cloud (on Google Play, Amazon Prime, or iTunes Match/iCloud, for example) may drop out, pause, and skip when played. |
