| A871344 2020124- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 87 number 13-43 dated July 12, 2013. Air conditioning is inoperative. The HVAC blower functions normally. The A/C pressure/temperature sensor, G395, leaks refrigerant. This causes sensor G395 to show an incorrect or implausible value when reading MVBs. An incorrect signal or a low refrigerant level in the system can cause the air conditioning compressor to deactivate. Battery discharged; however, when charged, there is no bus silence when vehicle ignition is off. The LIN cable connecting the vehicle electrical system control module, J519, to sensor G395 is pinched or cut. This affects the A4/S4, A5/S5 Coupe and Cabriolet, and Q5 vehicles. The A6 and A8 are not affected by this type of failure. The pressure sensor G395/G65 sends an incorrect signal that prevents bus silence and the battery is discharged. Sensor G395 is a LIN slave of the vehicle electrical system control module. The vehicle electrical system control module transfers the information provided by the sensor via the comfort data bus to the climate control module, J255. |
| A911302 2018187- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 11-20 dated October 21, 2011. Customer may report that cracking, grinding, rattling, humming, whining, or similar interference is coming from one or more speakers. Parts of the speakers (such as the brackets, cables, or covers) or parts of the interior fittings (such as door covers, rear shelf, facings, or covers) can vibrate at certain frequencies, causing noises. The radio tuner or other control modules may be affected by electromagnetic interference from aftermarket electronic devices. |
| A961367 2019260- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 96 number 12-37 dated June 11, 2012. The customer may report that the handheld transmitter cannot be programmed to the garage door opener control module, J530. The customer's door opener system may not be compatible with J530. The battery in the handheld transmitter may be too weak for a good signal. The battery charge may be sufficient to operate the garage door opener, but not enough to program the remote transmitter to the vehicle system. In A4 Model Years 2005 - 2006 and A3 Model Year 2009, the actual location of the garage door opener control module differs from the location shown in the owner's manual (opposite side of front bumper). The customer may misunderstand the programming procedure, particularly if the customer's HomeLink® opener system is using an alternate code. The handheld transmitter's programming function may become inoperative, or the transmitter is too far away from J530. Interference prevents the communication between handheld transmitter and J530. If the vehicle flashes during the programming of a handheld transmitter, this does not necessarily indicate that the programming was successful; it only indicates that the vehicle has recognized and saved a signal. |
| A911392 2030947- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 12-61 dated September 25, 2012. The customer complains that when he or she is trying to place a phone call from the vehicle while using a Bluetooth®-connected phone, the phone call disconnects before it begins and an error shows on the MMI display. The message may be "Function not supported" or "Network error". The customer is using a phone with the Android operating system. In addition, Skype®, or another network-based communication software, is installed on the phone. Call can be placed directly from the phone without a problem. When the phone gets the request to place a call from the vehicle, a prompt appears on the phone asking the user to choose how the call should be placed. If the prompt is ignored, the MMI system disconnects the call assuming the phone is not responding. |
| A871343 2020124- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 87 number 13-42 dated June 11, 2013. | A461347 2034387- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; PARKING BRAKE. Customer may report sporadically hearing the parking brake being actuated after the vehicle has been switched off. If the customer does not identify the sound as the sound of the parking brake being actuated, he or she may simply complain of hearing noises from the rear brakes. Ignition is switched off. Steering is locked. Park is selected. Parking brake is not engaged. If the electro-mechanical parking brake is not operated for some time, the free play between brake pads and brake discs increases because of normal brake pad wear. The parking brake control unit performs an automatic correction about every 621 miles (1,000 km). On A8 models, the brake pad thickness is also calculated. |
| A371309 2028715- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 37 number 12-40 dated February 28, 2012. Rough gear changes, both when accelerating and when slowing down. There is a rough driving power disruption that occurs sporadically and lasts for less than a second. After a mechatronics, torque converter, or complete gearbox replacement, the clutches must be adapted to the new component. This requires a gradual move of the clutch linings toward the optimal operating points in the most diverse load conditions. As a result, sporadic driving power disruptions lasting for less than a second or reduced shift comfort are possible over the first 500 miles. This is normal, and these issues will decrease over time. The issues can also occur if the adaptation values of the gearbox were deleted. |
| A911374 2024323- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. BACK OVER PREVENTION: CAMERA SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 12-61 dated October 1, 2012. Parking aid sporadically warns of obstacles when none exist. Parking aid is inoperative or provides constant warning. Various parking aid sensor fitting issues. Environmental conditions. |
| A571382 2017082- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 57 number 11-55 dated August 22, 2011. Central locking via remote control does not work either sporadically or permanently. The locks can still be operated manually. Missing synchronization between the remote control key and vehicle because the battery has been disconnected or the battery of the remote control has been replaced. If other senders operate in the same frequency range (mobile phones, TV stations, wireless headphones, baby monitors, other vehicle remote controls, etc.), the remote control key may have been temporarily switched off because a clear identification of the remote control key is not possible. This is necessary to prevent an unintentional unlocking of the vehicle by other unrelated senders. |
| A011370 2018260- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 97 number 10-06 dated June 4, 2010. MIL on. A number of incident memory entries with regard to the throttle valve are stored in the ECM. In most cases, the entries are sporadic. Contact resistance in the ECM wiring - throttle valve. |
| A011369 2028344- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 01 number 12-57 dated October 29, 2012. Noises/inconsistent engine operation after cold start during the catalyst heating phase. The customer may interpret this engine roughness as misfiring. To comply with the legal requirements on exhaust gas emissions according to the LEV-1 and LEV-2 standards, a high exhaust gas quality must be ensured. The necessary catalyst only operates at a temperature over 300°C (572°F). To achieve this, the catalyst is heated up. The catalyst heating phase is achieved by a late ignition angles and by introducing additional fresh air to the exhaust valves (secondary air system). Late ignition angles make sure that the exhaust gas from the cylinders has a higher temperature. This exhaust gas includes fuel that is un-burnt, and was deliberately injected into great quantities. The secondary air system adds fresh air to the exhaust gas as it leaves the cylinder and the extra fuel is burnt. As a result, the temperatures of the exhaust gas and of the catalyst increase quickly. The afterburning in the exhaust manifold before the catalyst changes the sound characteristic of the engine. This heating-up of the catalyst, including afterburning, is normal and has no effect on the service life of the engine. During this catalyst heating phase, the engine has increased idle speed, may have increased vibrations, and has a different sound characteristic. Depending on conditions, the time of the catalyst heating phase varies. |
| A481343 2015819- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 48 number 11-15 dated January 10, 2011. The customer may report that the Easy Entry function of the power adjustable steering column intermittently does not work. |
| A461335 2017130- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 46 number 11-16 dated December 9, 2011. Customer complains of brake squeal. |
| A431314 2018765- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. SUSPENSION:REAR:SPRINGS:AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM; SUSPENSION:FRONT:SPRINGS:AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 43 number 12-11 dated October 29, 2012. The self-leveling system can no longer be adjusted with the MMI. The compressor for the self-leveling system continues to run after the engine has been switched off and the vehicle has been locked. DTCs may be stored in the level control system module, J197 (address word 34). Because of poor performance or failure of the air suspension compressor, the vehicle ride height cannot be adjusted. As a safeguard, the control module will lower the vehicle to the lowest position and illuminate the warning light. Drivability is not affected. |

| A481567 2017266- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 48 number 14-62 dated September 23, 2014. Electrically-adjustable steering column adjustment is restricted and does not adjust vertically. Incorrect operation of Easy Entry is not the cause. It is unlikely that external forces have led to the loss of the stored end positions of the adjustment movement. See TSB 2015819, 48 Easy Entry function of the power adjustable steering column intermittently does not work, for more information. Seat adjustments can be used to maintain the 10-inch minimum recommended distance from the steering wheel in case of airbag deployment. The axial adjustment is still functional during this condition. The steering column may be under tension due to unfavorable tolerances of the steering column and module cross carrier. As a result, the current draw of the regulator motors is above specification, which causes the electric steering column adjustment to fail. Once the vehicle electrical system control module, J519 (address word 09), detects an excessive current draw, the basic settings will be erased. If basic settings are not stored in the vehicle electrical system control module, the module will not send voltage/current to the motor to operate the vertical adjustment. |
| A191562 2025303- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 19 number 15-61 dated July 7, 2015. Discontinuation and mixing of Audi-approved engine coolants. G11, G12, and G12+ coolants have been replaced by an improved version. G12++ coolant (for service available) has been introduced in MY 2005 for all engines. G13 has been introduced in MY 2008 as factory filling and service. |
| A461525 2022584- | 2017-11-17. Service bulletin. STEERING: STEERING WHEEL/HANDLE BAR; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 46 number 14-86 dated July 14, 2014. DO NOT use this TSB if there is another TSB for same concern applicable to the VIN. This TSB is only intended for diagnostic purposes and does not serve as a guideline for determining warrantable conditions. Customer may report that the steering wheel vibrates or pulsates when the brakes are applied. driving style, environmental conditions, and service history of the vehicle. Additionally, as brake pads and discs wear, their dampening ability is reduced. Disc thickness variation (DTV) is a common condition that contributes to brake pulsation. DTV occurs when the two braking surfaces of the brake disc are no longer parallel to each other. This condition cannot be accurately measured with normal workshop tools. |
