Service bulletins for the 2012 Audi A5
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| A941432 2017806- | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BACK UP LIGHTS. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 94 number 13-19 dated May 23, 2013. The light bulb warning light is displayed in the instrument cluster with the ?Vehicle lights: malfunction? message. DTCs are stored in the vehicle electrical system control module. Exterior lights are functioning properly. If the headlight switch is moved to an intermediate position and remains there, the light bulb warning light and the error message appear after approximately ten seconds. Once displayed, the message turns off after approximately five seconds. The light bulb warning light turns off only after the headlight switch is turned to a defined position, and the status of DTC 03280 or DTC 01800 are changed to sporadic. After 40 driving cycles without an implausible signal detected, the DTCs are automatically cleared. |

DTCs are stored in the ECM. Engine may have reduced performance without significant loss of power or stalling. Because there are a number of different misfire faults (unrelated to ignition coil operation) that could cause the MIL to illuminate, proper Guided Fault Finding (GFF) misfire diagnosis must be followed before any ignition coils are replaced. |
| Update Bulletin | 2017-11-08. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Under certain conditions, permanent mode $0A DTC codes concerning the fuel pump power stage module may remain visible after the vehicle?s OBD system has run the proper monitors successfully to allow the DTC to be erased by the system, after a proper repair. This software malfunction may cause vehicle to not pass IM inspection programs. This software update eliminates specific permanent DTC codes stored in mode $0A of the ECM. All other DTC storage functions remain unaffected. This Update is in effect until removed. |
| Update Bulletin | 2017-11-03. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Procedure is valid only for vehicles that show the 24AD code in the ElsaWeb Campaign/Action Information screen on the day of repair. Vehicle must be within the Federal Emissions Warranty. | A901342 2035902- | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION. "Ignition lock faulty" message is displayed in the driver information display with the symbol shown at right. DTCs are stored in the comfort system central control unit. The "ignition lock faulty" message can be triggered by many different DTC entries. Presence of the message does not indicate that the ignition switch is faulty; the message typically has a different root cause. Replacing the ignition switch before completing GFF test plans typically does not correct the condition. |
| A271320 2033524- | 2017-10-31. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 27 number 13-17 dated April 5, 2013. Coolant loss is found from one or more control valves: N82, N509, or N488. Coolant may have migrated into the wiring harness through the connector and into various control units. Climate system heating performance is insufficient due to coolant loss, or due to a faulty N82 control valve. Inspection of the coolant control valves N82, N509, or N488 reveals the presence of coolant inside the electrical connector as shown in the illustration. The connectors, wiring harness, and/or connected control units may have been damaged from exposure to coolant. |

Battery testing and charging for vehicles equipped with a Battery Data Manager (BDM - J367). When the InCharge 940 is used as a battery charger in auto mode, it performs a battery condition test and may prematurely fail the battery if the charging takes place at the jumper posts in the engine compartment. This is due to the added resistance in the system between the battery and jumper posts. When the InCharge 940 is used as a battery charger in manual mode, the battery condition test is not performed. |
