Service bulletins for the 2013 Audi A3
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Customer feels the vibration while driving at highway speeds from 55 ? 80 mph (88 ? 128 km/h). This bulletin is not applicable if this vehicle has a Repair Authorization on this topic. | A011491 2028842- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. Customer vehicle is fitted with unauthorized ECM tuning. All systems on Audi vehicles are engineered to work together using the factory calibrations, which have been extensively tested and validated before the vehicle is released for sale. The Audi warranty coverage is based on the results of developing the vehicle under the factory calibration. If a vehicle is equipped with unauthorized hardware or software tuning, it can cause stress on vehicle components outside of intended design limits, and can cause damage and additional wear. Subsequently, factory powertrain warranty coverage is reduced or voided. |
| A911462 2038296- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM). The audio CD or navigation DVD cannot be ejected from the RNS-E optical disc slot behind the navigation screen. The adaptation for enabling the eject button was either not performed at PDI or was not performed correctly (with a bus sleep immediately following the adaptation change). If ODIS OBD self-diagnosis was used, then it's possible a value of "1" was used, or if using the GFF test plan, the "CD/DVD Ejecting" option was incorrectly chosen. Setting the adaption to "1" or choosing the "CD/DVD Ejecting" option, is a one-time eject option that allows the ODIS tester to only eject the CD/DVD. This option does not permanently change the adaptation value and as a result the eject button remains disabled. |
| A911463 2028190- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM); ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 13-08 dated September 20, 2013. The customer would like to add a different navigation map database for countries outside of the USA or Canada. The customer would like to change the MMI system language to a different language that is not already supported by MMI. When a song is being played and the track information for that song contains foreign language characters, the driver information system (DIS) in the cluster correctly displays the characters, but the MMI display does not. |
| A871458 2035582- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 87 number 13-46 dated October 21, 2013. The A/C Compressor has been diagnosed as faulty and will be replaced under warranty. When performing replacement of an A/C Compressor under warranty, the amount of refrigerant and oil recovered must be documented. |
| A911466 2020399- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 14-24 dated January 24, 2014. The Audi MMI system will not play audio files from an SD card. The MMI system does not recognize the audio files on the SD card. The MMI system reports that the audio files on the SD card are damaged. The audio files on the SD card will play on one Audi vehicle, but will not play on a different Audi vehicle. The vehicle is equipped with RNS-E, Concert Radio with SD card slot, MMI3G, MMI3G+, or MIB. |
| A911467 2021037- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 13-85 dated May 29, 2013. The iPod or the USB memory stick is not recognized or the iPod is not charged when either unit is connected to the Audi music interface (AMI). MMI3G or a Symphony/Concert CAN radio system with separate AMI control unit in the glove box or armrest. MMI3G+ with integrated AMI in the MMI main unit. |
| A511306 2009967- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 00 number 11-23 dated June 3, 2011. Instructions for vehicle inspection, protection removal, and detailing. |
| A911302 2018187- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC.. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 11-20 dated October 21, 2011. Customer may report that cracking, grinding, rattling, humming, whining, or similar interference is coming from one or more speakers. Parts of the speakers (such as the brackets, cables, or covers) or parts of the interior fittings (such as door covers, rear shelf, facings, or covers) can vibrate at certain frequencies, causing noises. The radio tuner or other control modules may be affected by electromagnetic interference from aftermarket electronic devices. |
| A911395 2034511- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM). DTC 02261 (Data medium - Faulty) is sporadically set in the navigation control module, J401 (address word 37). The vehicle has the MY2014 navigation database installed. The DVD label should read "Version 2013/2014". If the DTC is static, or if there are functional issues with the navigation system, this bulletin does not apply. A change in the MY2014 navigation software is causing the RNS-E unit to trigger this DTC. |
| A961367 2019260- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 96 number 12-37 dated June 11, 2012. The customer may report that the handheld transmitter cannot be programmed to the garage door opener control module, J530. The customer's door opener system may not be compatible with J530. The battery in the handheld transmitter may be too weak for a good signal. The battery charge may be sufficient to operate the garage door opener, but not enough to program the remote transmitter to the vehicle system. In A4 Model Years 2005 - 2006 and A3 Model Year 2009, the actual location of the garage door opener control module differs from the location shown in the owner's manual (opposite side of front bumper). The customer may misunderstand the programming procedure, particularly if the customer's HomeLink® opener system is using an alternate code. The handheld transmitter's programming function may become inoperative, or the transmitter is too far away from J530. Interference prevents the communication between handheld transmitter and J530. If the vehicle flashes during the programming of a handheld transmitter, this does not necessarily indicate that the programming was successful; it only indicates that the vehicle has recognized and saved a signal. |
| A911392 2030947- | 2017-12-05. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 12-61 dated September 25, 2012. The customer complains that when he or she is trying to place a phone call from the vehicle while using a Bluetooth®-connected phone, the phone call disconnects before it begins and an error shows on the MMI display. The message may be "Function not supported" or "Network error". The customer is using a phone with the Android operating system. In addition, Skype®, or another network-based communication software, is installed on the phone. Call can be placed directly from the phone without a problem. When the phone gets the request to place a call from the vehicle, a prompt appears on the phone asking the user to choose how the call should be placed. If the prompt is ignored, the MMI system disconnects the call assuming the phone is not responding. |

Central locking via remote control does not work either sporadically or permanently. The locks can still be operated manually. Missing synchronization between the remote control key and vehicle because the battery has been disconnected or the battery of the remote control has been replaced. If other senders operate in the same frequency range (mobile phones, TV stations, wireless headphones, baby monitors, other vehicle remote controls, etc.), the remote control key may have been temporarily switched off because a clear identification of the remote control key is not possible. This is necessary to prevent an unintentional unlocking of the vehicle by other unrelated senders. |

Engine may have reduced performance without significant loss of power or stalling. Because there are a number of different misfire faults (unrelated to ignition coil operation) that could cause the MIL to illuminate, proper Guided Fault Finding (GFF) misfire diagnosis must be followed before any ignition coils are replaced. |
