Service bulletin SSM 53864

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Some 2025 Navigator vehicles may set diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U0415 in the power steering control module (PSCM) when a diagnostic self-test is performed. This may be due to PSCM DTC sensitivity during vehicle key on/start-up. Replacement or reprogramming of the PSCM will not resolve this condition. U0415 should be ignored and no further service action is required if no other DTCs are present in the PSCM, no warning indicators are illuminated while the engine is running, and no symptoms present.

SSM 547632026-04-28. Service bulletin. Some 2025-2026 F-Super Duty vehicles built without lane departure warning (built with minor feature code HLEAA) and 2025-2026 Expedition/Navigator vehicles built on or before 26-Mar-2026 may exhibit a clicking or creaking type noise when turning the steering wheel during low-speed maneuvers. To confirm a vehicle is built with a certain minor feature code, review the build information by double-clicking the vehicle identification number (VIN) in the upper left corner in the Professional Technician System (PTS). If a vehicle exhibits this condition, use a chassis ears tool and place the microphone clamp on or near the universal joint yoke of the steering column upper shaft (below the column). Turn the steering wheel with the vehicle stationary to replicate the concern. If the same noise is clearly heard through the chassis ears at this location, replace the steering column upper shaft (base part number 3E751). Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 211-04. For claiming, use causal part 3E751 and service labor operations 3676AUP and 1006D.
