Service bulletin SSM 51944

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

2022-2023 Escape and Bronco Sport vehicles equipped with 1.5L engines should add local fuel once the vehicle arrive to the dealership to reduce the risk of driving performance issues such as: rough operation, idle quality, engine misfires, lack or loss of engine power. These conditions may occur due to different fuel specifications between manufacturing plant and final market. Make sure that the vehicles in stock have local fuel added.

SSM 552112026-10-06. Over-the-air update. 2023-2026 Escape and 2025-2026 Bronco Sport vehicles equipped with a 1.5L EcoBoost engine may require removal of the turbocharger wastegate control actuator linkage for various reasons. The Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-04 Fuel Charging and Controls - Turbocharger - 1.5L EcoBoost > Removal and Installation > Wastegate Control Actuator Linkage service procedure has been added. In addition, the wastegate control actuator linkage rod with retaining clips (6K682) and actuator linkage rubber boot seal (9E416) have been released as lower-level components to complete the repair without replacing the entire turbocharger wastegate control actuator assembly.
TSB 26-24282026-10-02. Service bulletin. This bulletin supersedes 25-2326. Reason for update: update the service procedure to include the fuel tank isolation valve replacement, update the causal part number, and increase the labor time allowance to include the fuel tank isolation valve replacement. Some of the vehicles listed in the Model statement above may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P2450 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to the software in the PCM and/or the fuel tank isolation valve.

SSM 550312026-07-28. Service bulletin. Some 2021-2026 Ford/Lincoln vehicles may exhibit various symptoms including but not limited to the auto start/stop system not operating as intended with a "Check Charging System" message in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) while the charging system is operating properly with no charging related diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) stored. This may be due to someone using an aftermarket programmer to change the body control module (BCM) configuration to disable the auto start/stop system or perform other unsupported programming modifications. To correct this condition on F-150 and Bronco vehicles, download and run the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) application titled "BCM-Charging System Configuration Correction". Running this application will determine if the BCM configuration was modified by the customer and if so, provide the option to return the configuration back to factory settings. For other vehicle models exhibiting concerns related to unsupported aftermarket BCM programming, submit a Technical Support Request (TSR) requesting support to revert the BCM configuration

SSM 546332026-03-11. Service bulletin. Some 2023-2024 Bronco Sport vehicles equipped with a 1.5L engine may exhibit an illuminated powertrain malfunction (wrench) indicator with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P130D stored in the PCM. This may be caused by poor quality fuel being used in the vehicle. As stated in the Owner's Manual under FUEL QUALITY - Choosing the Right Fuel, use of any fuel for which the vehicle was not designed can impair the emission control system, cause loss of vehicle performance, and cause damage to the engine. Do not use: diesel fuel, fuels containing kerosene or paraffin, fuel containing more than 15% ethanol or E85 fuel, fuels containing methanol, fuels containing metallic-based additives, including manganese-based compound, fuels containing the octane booster additive, methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl (MMT) or leaded fuel. Using leaded fuel is prohibited by law. Make sure the fuel being used in the vehicle is from a reputable fueling station. If a vehicle exhibits this condition and fuel quality is suspected, recommend draining and cleaning the fuel system, and refilling the fuel tank with good quality
SSM 546152026-03-04. Service bulletin. Some 2020-2026 Escape and 2021-2026 Corsair vehicles equipped with a 2.5L engine may exhibit a fuel door that won't open with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P04CA stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to an open circuit on circuit SBB05 and/or a damaged splice S133. Before performing the pinpoint test for P04CA in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 310-00, inspect circuit SBB05 and splice S133 for damage such as an open circuit. Repair as necessary. Refer to Wiring Diagram, Cell 005. If no damage is found, refer to WSM, Section 310-00 for normal diagnostics. For claiming use causal 14290 and labor operations 12650D, 12650D45, and 12650D45WR.
