Service bulletin SA-008-23a

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Some vehicles may exhibit a steering shimmy or body vibration during the PDI test drive or during the first few miles of driving after the vehicle has been delivered to the customer due to flat spots on the tires. Flat spots on tires may be caused by improper maintenance during dealer storage (e.g.: Vehicle was left stationary for a prolonged period of time in high ambient temperatures).

The changes are noted in Red. 02-003/26 06/24/26 DESCRIPTION Some vehicles have reported faster than expected tire wear for vehicles equipped with OEM "Falken 275/45/21" tires, without outside influence such as low tire pressure or out of specification alignment, and the tire life may not meet customer expectations. To eliminate this concern, the tire contact patch pressure has been optimized.

SA-051-252025-12-05. Service bulletin. Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) Diagnostic Guidelines Diagnostic Guidelines When diagnosing NVH concerns, it is essential to first classify the issue into one of three primary categories: Noise, Vibration, or Harshness. Many customer complaints may involve overlapping symptoms, such as both noise and vibration, so identifying the dominant characteristic is critical. Once the primary symptom is determined, follow the appropriate diagnostic path. For example, if a concern includes both noise and vibration but is related to vehicle speed, the vibration diagnostic path should be followed. When considering component replacement during the diagnostic process, it is best practice to start with the lowest cost or most accessible part unless diagnostic evidence clearly identifies a more expensive or complex component as the root cause. This approach helps minimize repair costs and avoids unnecessary part replacements. For example, a growling or bearing whine noise may be mistakenly attributed to internal components in the differential, transfer unit, or transmission, when the actual source is a wheel bearing. Misdiagnosis like this can lead to unnecessary repairs, added time and cost. To help prevent this, always follow the guidelines in the repair procedure.
SA-020-25a2025-12-05. Service bulletin. There have been warranty claims submitted for growling or bearing whine noise in differentials, transfer units and transmissions where the source of the noise was a wheel bearing. This misdiagnosis can lead to multiple repair attempts, warranty debits, and additional inconvenience and/or cost to the customer. To reduce the chance of this occurring, please follow the steps outlined in the repair procedure.
SA-022-24a2024-07-05. Other. Some automotive cleaning products contain strong acid or alkali. When these types of cleaners are used to clean the wheels on Mazda vehicles, the chemicals contents penetrate the clear coating of the wheel surface and damage the paint under the clear coating. The damaged area has the appearance of dark stains or discoloration.
PF-24-072024-06-03. Other. Please be advised that the valve stem seals assigned to the 2.5 Skyactiv Turbo engines in GEPC are incorrect. The Diesel Valve Stem seal SH09-10-1F5A, which is for Diesel engines, is currently listed for these models in GEPC. Please ensure that the proper valve stem seals are used for the 2.5 Skyactiv Turbo engines affected by SSPD5 have the correct valve seal part number PY8W-10-1F5 installed on PYT engines to avoid any potential issues.
SA-022-242024-05-04. Service bulletin. Some automotive cleaning products contain strong acid or alkali. The damaged area has the appearance of dark stains or discoloration.
SA-018-242024-04-02. Service bulletin. The 7G large platform utilizes a new 8-speed automatic transmission. Due to changes in the parking lock mechanism, which is now hydraulically operated, the neutral range in the transmission can only be achieved if the engine is running (or “Ready-On” for PHEV). With this design, there is no provision to manually engage neutral. This can cause challenges to dealers, customers, or towing providers when a vehicle cannot start and can't move, usually due to a discharged (dead) battery. In the event that a vehicle cannot be started or achieve “ready-on”, wheel dollies must be used to allow the vehicle to be rolled and moved. NOTE: The following procedure is for moving vehicle around the service shop and not for towing purposes. Please reference the owner's manual for towing instructions.
SA-011-242024-03-06. Service bulletin. Mazda has developed factory recommended scheduled maintenance services that support all major vehicle systems. Mazda recommends dealers follow the scheduled maintenance tables as cited in the vehicle-specific workshop manual or owner's manual. Services performed outside of Mazda's factory scheduled maintenance are not recommended. These services are unnecessary and create unneeded expenses for your customers.
