Service bulletin SSM 51359

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Some 2023 Bronco vehicles equipped with 2.7L engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P04DB stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to a fault detected while in transport mode or a leak in the positive crankcase ventilation system (PCV). To correct the condition, perform a visual inspection of all possible sources outlined in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-08B pinpoint test (PPT) HG. Deactivate transport mode and place into normal operation mode, refer to WSM, Section 419-10. Clear all DTCs, allow the vehicle to sit with key off for at least 2 hours or until engine coolant temperature (ECT) is below 45°C (113°F). Start the vehicle and allow it to idle in park (P) for at least 1 minute. Using the appropriate scan tool, check for DTCs. If DTC P04DB returns, perform PPT HG in the WSM.

Other bulletins for the same vehicles and component
SSM 550732026-08-11. Service bulletin. Some 2021-2026 Bronco vehicles may require the removal and installation of the transfer case for various reasons. Installation requires Loctite® 243 adhesive applied to the mounting bolt threads in the transmission. Make sure that the mating faces are clean and dry. Tightening the mounting bolts also requires an updated two-stage tightening sequence. Workshop Manual (WSM), Sections 307-07C/D and 308-07C/D Installation > Transfer Case have been updated to reflect this change.
TSB 26-22912026-06-22. Service bulletin. This bulletin supersedes 26-2006. Reason for update: update the Parts list to correct the ambient air temperature service part number. Some vehicles listed in the model statement above may require the replacement of the ambient air temperature sensor for various concerns. DTCs P0071, P0072, and/or P0073 may be present in the powertrain control module (PCM).
SSM 549022026-06-09. Service bulletin. For 20202026 vehicles equipped with the 10R60 transmission, a new Transmission Clutch Circuit Leak Test has been introduced in the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). This test utilizes the pressure and vacuum transducer (PVT) when available. Workshop Manual (WSM) updates related to this diagnostic procedure are planned for release in Q4 2026. The new test improves the accuracy of detecting leaks within transmission fluid circuits and replaces the previous air check method. The previous air check procedure has been shown to produce a high rate of false positives, which may lead to unnecessary repairs when no actual leak is present. Accordingly, the air check procedure is not to be used for diagnosing internal transmission hydraulic leaks or as justification for transmission replacement.
SSM 548182026-05-18. Service bulletin. Some 2021-2024 Bronco vehicles equipped with a manual transmission may experience a rotational scraping noise while the transmission is in neutral, 1st and/or 2nd gear with the clutch pedal released. The noise may be more noticeable in ambient temps below 10°C (50°F) and after a cold soak. This noise may also diminish as the transmission warms up. This may be due to the 5th and 6th gear synchronizer rings. The 5th and 6th gear synchronizer rings are now only available in the 6th/5th gear synchronizer assembly (service part number MU7Z-7124-Q). To correct the condition, replace the 6th/5th gear synchronizer. Remove the transmission from the vehicle. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 308-03 > Removal. Disassemble the transmission. Refer to WSM, Section 308-03 > Disassembly. Disassemble the input shaft to gain access to the 6th/5th gear synchronizer. Refer to WSM, Section 308-03 > Disassembly and Assembly of Subassemblies > Input Shaft. Replace the 6th/5th gear synchronizer and assemble the input shaft. Assemble the transmission. Refer to WSM, Section 308-03 > Assembly. Install the transmission.
SSM 547812026-04-28. Service bulletin. Some 2021-2025 Bronco vehicles built on or before 09-Sep-2025 may require replacement of the ambient air temperature sensor for various concerns. Diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P0071, P0072, and/or P0073 may be present in the powertrain control module (PCM). A concern has been identified in TSB 26-2006 that previously instructed replacement of the incorrect ambient air temperature sensor for the vehicle application. Monitor Professional Technician System (PTS) for updates.
TSB 26-20062026-04-22. Service bulletin. Some vehicles listed in the model statement above may require the replacement of the ambient air temperature sensor for various concerns. DTCs P0071, P0072, and/or P0073 may be present in the powertrain control module (PCM).
SSM 546292026-03-11. Service bulletin. Some 2021-2023 Bronco vehicles may exhibit a charging system lamp that illuminates intermittently, and/or diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B11DB:08 in the body control module (BCM). This may be due to a loose fuse terminal for the low voltage high current fuse (3A). If this condition is present, compare fuse removal effort between the low voltage high current fuse and like fuses in the battery junction box (BCMC). If removal effort for the fuse is low, replace the low voltage high current fuse panel assembly to correct this condition. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 414-01 > Removal and Installation > Low Voltage High Current Fuse. For claiming, use causal part 14526 and labor time MT14526SSM with a limit of 0.5 hours.
SSM 545922026-02-27. Service bulletin. For 20172026 vehicles equipped with a 10R transmission, a revision to the Road Testing Vehicle procedure has been made in the WSM, located in Section 307-01 > Diagnosis and Testing. This updated procedure improves the diagnosis of customer reported transmission concerns and aids in locating the proper root cause. During diagnosis and testing, details regarding whether the condition is more prevalent when the vehicle is hot or cold, throttle percentage at the time of occurrence, vehicle speed, the specific shift involved, and whether the issue occurs during transmission engagements (N>R, N>D, R>D, or D>R) should be noted. Engineering requests including these detailed operating conditions that will significantly assist with root cause analysis. Diagnosis, testing, and repair should use established labor times outside this article.
SSM 539732025-07-02. Service bulletin. Some 2021-2024 Edge/Nautilus, 2021-2025 Bronco/Bronco Sport/E-Series/Escape/Corsair/Expedition/Navigator/Explorer/Aviator/F-150/F-Super Duty/Mustang/Ranger, and 2022-2025 Maverick vehicles may require an A/C compressor clutch assembly replacement be performed for various concerns. Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 412-00 Removal and Installation has been updated to eliminate the need to remove and install the A/C compressor to change out the A/C Compressor clutch assembly.
SSM 538762025-06-11. Service bulletin. Some 2020-2023 Aviator/Explorer and 2021-2023 Bronco vehicles equipped with a 10R60 transmission may exhibit harsh or delayed engagement/shift concerns. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01 > Diagnosis and Testing for normal diagnostics. The WSM has been updated with information from previously published articles related to this concern.
