What is wrong
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2022-2023 F-150, Mustang, Explorer, Bronco, and 2023 Lincoln Aviator vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions. The transmission may contain a loose bolt which could prevent the transmission from engaging the park gear, although the gear shifter position may indicate that the vehicle has been shifted to "PARK."
What can happen
The inability to secure the vehicle in the park position can result in a rollaway, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
The remedy
Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the transmissions, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 25, 2023. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 23S06.

| TSB 24-2097 | 2024-04-04. Service bulletin. Some 2021-2022 F-150 non-Lightning vehicles may exhibit an illuminated powertrain malfunction (wrench) indicator and Service Vehicle Soon message in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U031D in the powertrain control module (PCM) and no other drivability concerns. This may be due to the configuration of the PCM. |

| SSM 52371 | 2024-04-04. To correct this condition, run the PCM - Disable Pro Trailer Hitch Assist application using the latest software level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) scan tool. |
| SSM 52349 | 2024-04-04. Service bulletin. Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles may exhibit DTC C0604:00 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) and may have an Active Air Dam System Fault See Manual message displayed in the instrument panel cluster (IPC). To correct this condition, clear and retest for the DTC C0604:00. If DTC C0604:00 returns, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 501-19 Bumpers, Diagnosis and Testing for additional diagnosis. |
| TSB 24-2068 | 2024-04-03. Service bulletin. Some 2023 F-150 vehicles equipped with 3.5L PowerBoost engine and F-150 Lightning vehicles receiving a replacement Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module may experience an error during the FDRS Programmable Module Installation (PMI) routine which states Procedure Unsuccesful - GetFlashActionPartNumbers Unable To Obtain Flash Action Part Numbers From Available Topology. This may be due to the software level of the powertrain control module (PCM) and/or the secondary on-board diagnostic module C (SOBDMC). |
| SSM 52342 | 2024-03-20. Service bulletin. Some 2022-2024 Broncos Raptors built on and before 13-Feb-2024 and 2021-2024 Broncos equipped with a 2.3L EcoBoost engine may exhibit an illuminated MIL with ignition system DTC(s) P0352, P0353, P0354, P0355, P0357, P2303, P2306, P2309, P2312, P2318, P2304, P2307, P2310, P2313, P2319, and/or P2322 set in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to incorrect cylinder to DTC mapping within the PCM. This means the DTCs listed may set against the incorrect cylinder. Even though the cylinder to DTC mapping is incorrect in the PCM, the presence of these DTCs means that a real ignition system concern is present that requires diagnosis and repair. Prior to performing a pinpoint test for one of the listed DTCs, it will be necessary to identify the correct cylinder that has the issue. Do this by using the Ford diagnosis and repair system (FDRS) to perform a cylinder power balance test. If the results show two cylinders dropping out, begin diagnosing the ignition system components for the cylinder that is dropping out and not setting an ignition related DTC. Due to the incorrect cylinder to DTC mapping |
| SSM 52244 | 2024-02-14. Service bulletin. Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.5L PowerBoost hybrid engine, 2020-2023 Explorer vehicles equipped with a 3.3L hybrid engine and 2020-2023 Aviator vehicles equipped with a 3.0L hybrid engine may exhibit a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0A1E stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) and auto start/stop disabled. This may be due to a loose wiring connection to the belt integrated starter generator (BISG). The Workshop Manual (WSM) has recently been updated to provide new direction for DTC P0A1E. Refer to the WSM, Section 303-06 Starting System, Diagnosis and Testing, Starting System for applicable diagnosis. |

Make sure the proper procedure is being followed to exit neutral tow mode by referring to the Owner's Manual > Towing Your Vehicle > Recreationally Towing Your Vehicle. Make sure the vehicle's battery is fully charged and then diagnose all diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) in the AWD module. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-07A. If diagnostics do not resolve the concern or there are no DTCs present in the AWD module, reprogram the AWD module using the latest software level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) diagnostic scan tool. Refer to the appropriate section of the WSM. Once the repair is complete, verify the vehicle's ability to successfully enter and exit neutral tow mode by cycling the vehicle in and out of neutral tow mode a minimum of two times, allowing the vehicle to enter sleep mode (key-off for at least 5 minutes) be |
