Service bulletin RCA-18-22-001-1
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary
Rivian is initiating a customer satisfaction campaign for some model year 2022 R1T vehicles that may have been built without the damper reinforcement plate on top of the front damper. Without the damper reinforcement plate, the suspension loads may damage the shock tower over time. A damaged shock tower may result in additional suspension travel, a reduction in suspension stiffness, and abnormal noise noticeable to the customer. Rivian will inspect all affected vehicles. If a vehicle is found without a damper reinforcement plate, a new part will be installed. Rivian is launching this campaign for customer satisfaction and to ensure the quality of Rivian vehicles.

| RSB-18-24-001-1 | 2024-08-07. Service bulletin. Rivian is initiating a technical service bulletin for some 2022-2024 R1T and R1S vehicles. In some situations, the driver may notice a squeaking or chirping noise coming from the front of the vehicle when driving on uneven surfaces below 32 km/h (20 mph). This condition does not affect vehicle performance. Upon customer complaint of this squeaking or chirping noise, Rivian will replace the front hydraulic jounce lines with upgraded components to eliminate the noise. |
| PIN.18.001.V1 | 2024-02-08. Service bulletin. Rivian is initiating a Preliminary Information Notification (PIN) for MY2022/23 R1 vehicles. Under certain driving conditions, at low speeds (under 25 mph), when the vehicle is articulating over bumps and uneven surfaces, a chirp noise can be heard inside the cabin, which might be perceived as a quality issue. But the noise is not an indication of a quality issue and there are no resulting performance issues with the vehicle. Rivian is currently assessing potential noise mitigations. |
| RCA-60-23-001-1 | 2023-12-01. Service bulletin. Rivian is initiating a customer satisfaction campaign for some 2022 R1T vehicles that may have been builtwith hydraulic suspension jounce lines that could contact the front underbody subframe panel and/or the front wheel liners. Over time the hydraulic suspension jounce lines may rub through due to this contact. As a result, the vehicle may experience a loss of hydraulic pressure, suspension sag, increased body roll, and/ or the vehicle may enter a reduced performance safe-state mode with limited speed. If the vehicle enters a reduced performance safe-state mode, there will be a notification displayed and a malfunction indicator lamp illuminated on the driver display. Rivian will replace the front underbody panel and the front wheel liners with updated parts that will not interfere with the front hydraulic suspension jounce lines. Rivian is launching this campaign for customer satisfaction and to ensure the quality of Rivian vehicles. |
| RCA-46-22-001-1 | 2022-08-05. Service bulletin. Rivian is initiating a customer satisfaction campaign for some model year 2022 R1T vehicles that may have been built with front upper control arm bolt pass through holes in the shock tower that are larger than necessary. This could lead to premature wear of the control arm bushings, causing minor changes to vehicle suspension alignment. Rivian will inspect the front upper control arm bushings for wear and install washers on the front shock towers to better support the bushings. Rivian is launching this campaign for customer satisfaction and to ensure the quality of Rivian vehicles. |
| RCA-18-22-002-1 | 2022-07-07. Service bulletin. Rivian is initiating a customer satisfaction campaign for some model year 2022 R1T vehicles that may have been built with rear left-hand (LH) and/or right-hand (RH) upper lateral link fasteners that were over-torqued. Over time, this over-torquing may cause the components, including the bolt, mounting bracket and upper lateral link bushing to deform, resulting in a loose joint. The loose joint could result in a loss of wheel camber setting and a noticeable change in handling characteristics and tire wear. The customer may also notice increased noise from the rear of the vehicle. Rivian will replace both the LH and RH upper lateral links and their associated fasteners. Rivian is launching this campaign for customer satisfaction and to ensure the quality of Rivian vehicles. |
| RCA-18-22-003-1 | 2022-06-07. Service bulletin. Rivian is initiating a customer satisfaction campaign for some 2022 R1T vehicles that may experience vibration and noise from the left rear floor due to movement in the hydraulic suspension lines. Hydraulic suspension line movement could cause the lines to vibrate and make contact with the left rear floor and HV Battery housing while the vehicle is in motion. This condition may result in a loud, noticeable noise from the left rear floor and may eventually result in damage to the hydraulic suspension lines. Damaged hydraulic suspension lines may result in a loss of hydraulic suspension pressure, resulting in noticeable suspension sag, increased body roll, and/or the vehicle may enter a reduced performance safe-state mode with limited speed. If the vehicle enters a reduced performance safe-state mode, there will be a notification displayed and a malfunction indicator lamp illuminated on the driver display. Rivian will install a vibration damper to dampen vibrations and will ensure hydraulic suspension lines are fully restrained or replaced if damaged. Rivian is launching this campaign for customer satisfaction and to ensure the quality of Rivian vehicles. |
