NHTSA's summary

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: 8AT (A8LR1-SBW) SOLENOID VALVE REPLACEMENT AND TCU LOGIC IMPROVEMENT - This bulletin provides the procedure to replace two (2) solenoid valves (35R and 4&OD) and improve the gear shift logic of the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) on some 2015-2016MY K900 (KH) vehicles, equipped with Tau 5.0L engine and 8-speed automatic transmission w/Shift-By-Wire (A8LR1-SBW), which may exhibit symptoms of abnormal shift shock during an upshift (2nd-->3rd, 3rd-->4th, 4th-->5th). This condition occurs on vehicles with mileage over 12,000 miles and may be due to possible premature wear of the solenoid valve. To correct this concern, replace the 35R and 4&O/D solenoid valves with added “H” ventilation port, perform TCU relearn, and, if applicable, apply the improved logic to the Transmission system using the KDS ECU Upgrade function as described in this bulletin.

PITSTOP: CUSTOMER TIP: ACCELERATOR PEDAL FUNCTION/DESCRIPTION - On all K900 (KH), Cadenza (VG, YG), and Optima (JF, JFa, JF-HEV, JF-PHEV) vehicles, the accelerator pedal features a small detent with a spring to provide increased resistance to help avoid unnecessary fuel consumption when applying full throttle. When the driver depresses the pedal beyond the resistance where the detent is felt (above 85% WOT), the pedal will easily reach WOT and kickdown shift will occur accordingly. For additional information, refer to the individual vehicle?s Owner?s Manual under section ?Driving Your Vehicle? ? Automatic Transmission (Drive).

PS4302017-01-13. Service bulletin. 8-SPEED TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT REQUIREMENTS - ON K900 (KH) VEHICLES, THE 8-SPEED TRANSMISSION (A8TR1) HAS PRECISE DIRECT SOLENOID CONTROL FOR THE CLUTCH AND BRAKE SYSTEM INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION. DUE TO HYDRAULIC PRESSURE VARIANCE AT THE TIME OF TRANSMISSION AND SOLENOID PRODUCTION, SHOCK OR SHIFT DELAY MAY OCCUR DURING GEAR SHIFT AFTER REPLACEMENT. IN RESPONSE TO THIS PRESSURE VARIANCE, THE HYDRAULIC PRESSURE IS RECORDED IN A BAR CODE FORMAT AND AFFIXED IN THE FORM OF TWO LABELS (A) ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE TRANSMISSION. WHENEVER THE TCM AND/OR 8-SPEED TRANSMISSION IS REPLACED, THE BAR CODE VALUE MUST BE ENTERED (B) INTO GDS/KDS BY FOLLOWING THE PROCEDURE OUTLINED ON KGIS.
