Service bulletin 123214

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Service Engine Soon (MIL) Lamp Illuminated with No Relevant Faults. INFORMATION If an i3 or i8 is brought in for service with a Service Engine Soon (MIL) lamp illuminated, or with a customer concern that the MIL is intermittently illuminated, troubleshoot with ISTA/D. If these diagnostics do not lead to a root cause and a solution, do the following: Do not clear faults with ISTA/D. Use an aftermarket OBD scan tool to read out any P-codes that are present. Record any and all P-codes. Submit a TC PuMA case entitled Check Engine Light - No Relevant Faults to either "BMW i3 Powertrain Components" or "i8 Powertrain Components." The P-code and diagnosis summary should also be included.
