Service bulletin SSM 47613

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Some 2018-2019 Transit vehicles equipped with a 3.2L engine may exhibit an illuminated MIL with DTC P054E. If DTC P054E is set with any other DTCs, diagnose and repair those DTCs first. If DTC P054E is the only DTC, do not attempt to repair or replace any components, Engineering is investigating. To assist with the investigation, while IDS is open, access Powertrain > OBD Test Modes > Mode 9. Once open, log the data, exit, and save and hold the session. Next, open the Previous Sessions menu, highlight the respective session, and press the session upload icon (three computers) to transmit the file. In addition, use the Report a Vehicle Concern link at the bottom of the OASIS report and fill out the form. Continue to monitor OASIS for updates.

SSM 550982026-08-25. Service bulletin. Some 2013-2016 Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine and 2015-2019 Transit vehicles equipped with a 3.2L diesel engine may not pass a state smog test due to the exhaust gas system (EGS) monitor that will not run after completing the exhaust gas sensor drive cycle located within Section 2 of the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnostics (PC/ED) Manual > Drive Cycles. This may be due to the vehicles diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) age counter being under the 120-minute age requirement. There is an all-new "PCM Catalytic Converter Age Evaluation" application within the latest version of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). Use this new FDRS application to determine the age (in minutes) of the DOC. If the age is less than 120 minutes, perform manual regenerations to increase the catalyst age counter to satisfy the monitor age requirement. If further assistance is needed, contact the technical assistance center (TAC). Note: this article only applies to the EGS monitor. Problems with other vehicle monitors not running successfully must be addressed using normal diagnostics located i
SSM 546902026-04-06. This may be due to the vehicles diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) age counter being under the 120-minute requirement. Engineering is investigating this issue and working on a solution.
SSM 523352024-03-20. Service bulletin. For 2015-2024 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with turbocharged engines and customer concern of an engine oil leak, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-00 for oil leak inspection and testing methods. Ford has evaluated turbochargers replaced for oil leak symptoms and although oil may collect on the external surface of a turbocharger, it is extremely rare for a turbocharger assembly to be the root cause of the oil leak. Careful inspection of the turbocharger oil feed and drain tubes should be performed along with the recommended WSM procedures as needed. Warranty claims for turbocharger replacement going forward will be assessed.

Certain 2017-2019 Model Year Transit Vehicles with a 3.2L Diesel Engine EGR Cooler Replacement Vehicles Covered By This Program: The build date range for the affected vehicles was incorrectly listed as June 4, 2015 through October 24, 2019. The correct build date range is June 21, 2017 through October 24, 2019.
SSM 503232021-12-26. Service bulletin. Some 2017-2022 F-Super Duty and 2016-2022 F-650/F-750 with 6.7L diesel engines, 2015-2019 Transit with 3.2L diesel engines and 2018-2021 F-150 with 3.0L diesel engines may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P206C in the powertrain control module (PCM). Review of repair data supports that P206C is often the result of incorrect diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) concentration. Per Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Pinpoint Test (PPT) RJ, a DEF concentration reading below 28% will set P206C and cause vehicle derate. If low concentration is suspected, drain fluid and replace with known good DEF before replacing any parts. Low concentration of DEF is not a warrantable condition.
21M032021-12-07. Service bulletin. Certain 2015-2019 Model Year Transit Vehicles with a 3.2L Diesel Engine EGR Cooler Replacement n some of the affected vehicles, the EGR cooler may crack and allow coolant to enter the combustion chamber when EGR is enabled. A cracked EGR cooler may cause malfunction indicator light (MIL) illumination, reduced power, engine overheating, white smoke from the exhaust, and/or coolant level low without an exterior leak.
TSB 21-24082021-12-01. Service bulletin. Some 2015-2019 Transit vehicles equipped with a 3.7L engine and block heater may exhibit a repeat coolant leak from a deteriorated O-ring and/or intake manifold thermostat housing. This may be due to the block heater in the thermostat housing. To correct the condition, install a block heater service kit in the engine block.
