NHTSA's summary
SOME 2015-2017 F-150 VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 6R80 TRANSMISSION MAY EXPERIENCE AN INTERMITTENT LOSS OF REVERSE ENGAGEMENT OR A NEUTRAL STATE WHEN PERFORMING A SPECIFIC SHIFT PATTERN. THIS MAY OCCUR AFTER SHIFTING FROM MANUAL 1 OR MANUAL 2 TO REVERSE AT LOW SPEEDS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS ROLLING. SHIFTING THE TRANSMISSION INTO PARK AND CYCLING THE IGNITION OFF AND BACK ON WILL RESTORE REVERSE ENGAGEMENT. NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC DO NOT ATTEMPT REPAIR.

It is possible the vehicle may also have an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) or diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P0751, P0752, P0756, P0757, P0761, P0762, P0766, P0767, P0771, P0772, P2700, P2701, P2702, P2703, P2704, P2705, P2707, P2708, P0729, P0731, P0732, P0733, P0734, P0735, P0736, P076F, P07D9, P07F6 and/or P07F7 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) or transmission control module (TCM). This may be due to incompatibility of the adaptive calibration to adapt to hardware wear-in over time. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to overhaul the main control valve body and/or perform an adaptive learning drive cycle. |
| 21N03-S2 | 2021-09-30. Service bulletin. Certain 2017-2020 Model Year F-150, 2018-2020 Expedition, and 2018-2020 Navigator Vehicles Equipped with a 3.5L GTDI Engine Cam Phaser Replacement; Owner letters are scheduled to mail during the week of September 27, 2021• Submitting Claims with Ford Protect for Balance Remaining: Added instruction on how to claim the customer paid portion of the FSA with Ford Protect.• Submitting Claims with Customer Loyalty Program for Balance Remaining: Added instruction on how to claim the customer paid portion of the FSA using CLP Funds. | SSM 49821 | 2021-06-01. Service bulletin. Some 2015-2021 Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P0011, P0012, P0014, P0015, P0016, P0017, P0018, P0019, P0021, P0022, P0024 and/or P0025. This may be due to small debris causing the VCT solenoid to stick. Before attempting any component diagnosis or replacement of the VCT solenoid, refer to Powertrain Control and Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) pinpoint test HK11 to cycle the affected VCT solenoid 10 times to attempt to clear the debris. For claiming, use causal part 6M280 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. |
| TSB 20-2306 | 2020-11-05. Service bulletin. The service part long block for 2017-2018 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.5L EcoBoost engine built at Kansas City Assembly Plant on or before 23-Feb-2018 or Dearborn Truck Plant on or before 26-Feb-2018 and 2018 Expedition/Navigator vehicles built on or before 19-Mar-2018 has been changed to a one piece oil pan design. To make sure there is proper fitment of the new long block with the one piece oil pan, replacement of the transmission cooler coolant lines and an engine harness modification will be necessary. To correctly install, follow the Service Procedure steps to complete the repair. |
| TSB 20-2191 | 2020-07-06. Service bulletin.
