Service bulletin TSB 16-0135

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

SOME 2016-2017 F-SUPER DUTY 650/750 VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 6.7L DIESEL ENGINES AND BUILT ON OR BEFORE 9-AUG-2016 MAY EXHIBIT AN ILLUMINATED MIL WITH NO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) RELATED TO MIL ILLUMINATION. THIS MAY BE DUE TO POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) UNINTENTIONALLY CLEARING SOME DTCS DURING IDS SESSION CREATION. REPROGRAM THE PCM TO THE LATEST CALIBRATION USING IDS RELEASE 102.03 OR HIGHER. MAKE SURE YOU ARE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET WHEN ENTERING MODULE PROGRAMMING TO OBTAIN THE LATEST UPDATES. CALIBRATION FILES MAY ALSO BE OBTAINED AT WWW.MOTORCRAFTSERVICE.COM.

SSM 524762024-05-03. Service bulletin. All accessory stick-on keyless entry keypads come with a wallet card containing the master code. If the accessory keypad was factory installed, this card will be placed in the glove box and should be handed to the vehicles owner during initial delivery. Unlike the integrated (wired) factory keypad, the accessory keypad master code cannot be retrieved from the vehicle using a diagnostic scan tool. If the wallet card for an accessory keypad is lost, follow these steps to recover the code. Dealer Key Code access is granted through the Dealer Program Enrollment System (DPES); dealership management can authorize users. The authorized user must go to FMCDealer.com > Parts and Service > Parts Product Line Information > Keys/Entry Devices > Aftermarket Keyless Entry Keypad Code Access. Follow the instructions on the screen to obtain the master code for the accessory keypad.
SSM 506362022-03-29. Service bulletin. 2011-2022 F-Super Duty and 2016-2023 F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit an elevated idle condition. During prolonged idle time, vehicles may experience this elevated idle to reduce unburned hydrocarbons from the SCR. The powertrain control module estimates hydrocarbon levels in the SCR and may increase idle speed to remove them. Idle speed will be increased to 1000 RPM for ambient temperatures near 26°C (80°F) and may increase to 1200 RPM at -40 °C (-40°F). Vehicles may exhibit exhaust smoke and diesel exhaust fluid smell during elevated idle condition. Exhaust smoke and smell condition will not affect reliability or durability of the engine. Power take-off (PTO) use and idle set point control will disable elevated speed. It is required that the operator monitor the vehicle and adhere to any Exhaust Filter warning messages.
SSM 505492022-03-08. Service bulletin. Some 2018-2020 F-150, 2017-2022 F-Super Duty and 2016-2022 F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a diesel engine may exhibit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0000 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) after an on-demand self test. This DTC is due to a processing error in the PCM as a result of on-demand self testing. P0000 is an invalid DTC that will not illuminate the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and no repairs should be performed.

SIL 7902021-04-06. Service bulletin. It has been discovered that some hydraulic lines installed by Altec may be in contact with chassis air brake line(s). Some DOT inspections have considered this to be a violation of federal regulation 49 CFR § 393.45 b 2. Over time, chafing of the air brake line(s) could result in loss of air pressure and reduction in braking performance. Altec requires the routing of the hydraulic lines to be inspected no later than the next periodic maintenance interval. The affected unit are some T40P cable placers installed on Ford F750 chassis from May 2015 to January 2020
SSM 490392020-08-04. Service bulletin. Some 2015-2019 F-Super Duty and 2016-2019 F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit an oil leak from the oil filter, crankcase vent oil separator, oil cooler, upper/lower oil pan. This may be due to a clogged crankcase vent oil separator and/or a sealing concern. Do not remove/replace the engine front cover for upper oil pan leaks. Do not check for warpage on the upper oil pan. When the upper oil pan is not bolted to the vehicle, it has a natural tendency to twist slightly due to the manufacturing process for the pan and will not result in an oil leak. The Workshop Manual (Section 303-00 > Diagnosis and Testing > Engine > Engine Oil Leaks) provides information on the usage of fluorescent oil dye to locate the source of an oil leak. Refer to GSB Oil Leaks Weeps And Seeps for more oil leak diagnosis. Continue to monitor OASIS for updates.
