Service bulletin 97AS
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Technical Bulletin (Front Seat Creaking Noise): Creaking noise can be heard from front seat while driving over bumps, driving aggressively, or while getting out of the vehicle. On the outboard side of the front seats there is a link tab that is contacting the seat frame. The gap between this tab and the seat frame should be a minimum of 1mm which was not taking place. The production solution for this issue was that the Supplier has corrected the production process to create the proper gap between the link tab and the seat frame. This document discusses the "Fault Codes" necessary to diagnosis, and potential remedy of the issue. The fault codes for checking warranty coverage for servicing the vehicle are also available. |
