This may be due to coolant intrusion due to corrosion on the engine block. To diagnose this concern, with the engine at normal operating temperature, pressurize the cooling system to 138 kPa (20 psi) and hold for 5 hours. If the coolant pressure drops 27.57 kPa (4psi), remove the spark plugs and inspect for coolant in the cylinders. If coolant is found in any of the cylinders, replace the engine long block assembly. Follow normal prior approval process for your Dealership. However, follow the diagnostic repair procedure in this article to determine correct repair. For claiming, use causal part 6006 and applicable labor operations in Section 6 of the SLTS Manual.","document":{"url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2018/MC-10137115-9999.pdf","alternate_url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2018/MC-10137115-0001.pdf","confirmed":false},"url":"https://open.wenmarpro.com/bulletins/10137115"},{"nhtsa_id":10109048,"type":"service_bulletin","type_name":"Service bulletin","date_added":"2017-08-01","date":"2016-09-26","document_id":"TSB 16-0130","mfr_campaign":null,"component":"ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:GASOLINE:TURBO/SUPERCHARGER; ENGINE","summary":"Some 2014-2017 Fusion and 2017 Escape vehicles equipped with a 1.5L Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection (GTDI) engine may exhibit low coolant, white exhaust smoke and an illuminated MIL if diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0217, P300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0316 and/or P1299 are present.
