This could happen when downshifting (if the clutch lever is not fully pulled in) or when the throttle is opened from idle. Also, the engine warning light may not turn on when a part fails. This problem could also cause the engine warning system to turn on and give limited throttle response.\n\nSafety Risk:\nA sudden engine stall could increase the risk of a crash. A sudden lack of acceleration could surprise the rider, and in certain situations, could increase the risk of a crash.\n\nCorrective Actions:\nYamaha will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to update the engine control unit (ECU) software.","consequence":null,"remedy":null,"notes":null,"mfr_campaign":"M22-014","part_number":null,"units":843,"completion":null,"do_not_drive":null,"park_outside":null,"notification":"Superseded","french":{"component":"Moteur","notification":"Remplacé","summary":"Ce rappel a été remplacé par le no 2023-339 de Transports Canada.\n\nProblème :\nSur certaines motocyclettes, une mauvaise programmation pourrait faire caler le moteur. Cela pourrait se produire en rétrogradant (si le levier de l'embrayage n'est pas complètement tiré) ou lorsque l'on ouvre le papillon des gaz à partir du régime ralenti. De plus, le voyant d'avertissement du moteur pourrait ne pas s'allumer lorsqu'une pièce est défectueuse. Ce problème pourrait également activer le système d'avertissement du moteur et limiter la réaction du papillon des gaz.\n\nRisques pour la sécurité :\nLe calage soudain du moteur pourrait augmenter les risques d'un accident. Une perte soudaine de l'accélération pourrait surprendre le conducteur et, dans certains cas, augmenter les risques d'accident.\n\nMesures correctives :\nYamaha doit aviser les propriétaires par la poste et leur demander d'amener leur motocyclette chez un concessionnaire pour mettre à jour le module de commande du moteur (ECU)."},"vehicles":[{"year":2021,"make":"YAMAHA","model":"MT-09","vehicle_id":"2021_yamaha_mt-09","match":"exact","built_from":null,"built_to":null},{"year":2022,"make":"YAMAHA","model":"MT-09","vehicle_id":"2022_yamaha_mt-09","match":"exact","built_from":null,"built_to":null},{"year":2021,"make":"YAMAHA","model":"TRACER 9 GT","vehicle_id":"2021_yamaha_tracer-9","match":"base","built_from":null,"built_to":null},{"year":2022,"make":"YAMAHA","model":"TRACER 9 GT","vehicle_id":"2022_yamaha_tracer-9","match":"base","built_from":null,"built_to":null}],"may_apply":true,"as_of":"2026-10-19","lookup":{"nhtsa":"https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls","tc":"https://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Saf-Sec-Sur/7/VRDB-BDRV/search-recherche/menu.aspx?lang=eng","maker":null},"attribution":["Contains information licensed under the Open Government Licence – Canada."],"url":"https://open.wenmarpro.com/recalls/tc/2022099"}
