Eventually, the insulation on one of the wires may be damaged causing a short circuit and a blown fuse.  If this occurs, operation of a critical component can be lost, including windshield wipers, headlamps, turn signal and hazard lamps, the anti-locking function of the brakes and battery charging system.  Specific component failure would depend on which wire was damaged.  Correction:  Wire harness will be inspected and, if necessary, repaired.
