{"source":"nhtsa","country":"us","campaign":"16V778000","date":"2016-10-26","owner_notified":"2016-11-11","manufacturer":"Ford Motor Company","component":"FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL","summary":"Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2017 Ford F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, and F-550 SD trucks manufactured March 21, 2016, to August 28, 2016.  The protective shield on the fuel conditioning module may have inadequate adhesion, allowing the shield to become dislodged.","consequence":"If the shield becomes dislodged, the drain valve may open resulting in a fuel leak.  A fuel leak, in the presence of an ignition source, increases the risk of a fire.  Under certain conditions, significant liquid fuel on the road surface may cause a slip hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.","remedy":"Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the protective shield, free of charge.  The recall began November 11, 2016.  Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332.  Ford's number for this recall is 16S39.","notes":"Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.","mfr_campaign":"16S39","part_number":null,"units":170,"completion":{"kind":"quarterly","report_number":6,"period_from":"2018-1","period_to":"2018-1","submitted":"2018-04-27","involved":170,"remedied":127,"unreachable":4,"removed":0,"remedied_percent":74,"as_of":"2026-10-19"},"do_not_drive":false,"park_outside":false,"notification":null,"french":null,"vehicles":[{"year":2017,"make":"FORD","model":"F-250 SD","vehicle_id":"2017_ford_f-250","match":"base","built_from":"2016-03-21","built_to":"2016-08-28"},{"year":2017,"make":"FORD","model":"F-350 SD","vehicle_id":"2017_ford_f-350","match":"base","built_from":"2016-03-21","built_to":"2016-08-28"},{"year":2017,"make":"FORD","model":"F-450 SD","vehicle_id":"2017_ford_f-450","match":"base","built_from":"2016-03-21","built_to":"2016-08-28"},{"year":2017,"make":"FORD","model":"F-550 SD","vehicle_id":"2017_ford_f-550","match":"base","built_from":"2016-03-21","built_to":"2016-08-28"}],"may_apply":true,"as_of":"2026-10-19","lookup":{"nhtsa":"https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls","tc":"https://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Saf-Sec-Sur/7/VRDB-BDRV/search-recherche/menu.aspx?lang=eng","maker":null},"attribution":[],"url":"https://open.wenmarpro.com/recalls/nhtsa/16V778000"}
