This may be due to engine oil breaching the dynamic oil seals separating the bearing core from the turbine housing in the left side turbocharger assembly. There is a new, updated left side turbocharger oil supply tube equipped with an internal check valve to prevent the engine oil from entering turbine housing after the engine is off. Replace the existing left side turbocharger oil supply tube with the updated service part that includes the check valve (service part# L1MZ-9T516-B) or latest level part. Refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-04 Fuel Charging and Controls - Turbocharger > Removal and Installation > Turbocharger Oil Supply Tube LH. For claiming, use causal part 9T516 and labor operation code 9440AL.","document":{"url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2026/MC-11038165-0001.pdf","alternate_url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2026/MC-11038165-9999.pdf","confirmed":false},"url":"https://open.wenmarpro.com/bulletins/11038165","components":[{"id":"engine","name":"Engine","parent":null}],"codes":[],"topics":[],"vehicles":[{"make":"FORD","model":"EXPLORER","year_from":2020,"year_to":2024,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2020_ford_explorer","2021_ford_explorer","2022_ford_explorer","2023_ford_explorer","2024_ford_explorer"]},{"make":"LINCOLN","model":"AVIATOR","year_from":2020,"year_to":2024,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2020_lincoln_aviator","2021_lincoln_aviator","2022_lincoln_aviator","2023_lincoln_aviator","2024_lincoln_aviator"]}],"as_of":"2026-10-19","note":"A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it.
