A fractured rear axle bolt will allow the rear axle housing to move out of position, resulting in severe noise and vibration. If the rear axle bolt breaks, the driveshaft or half shafts may become disconnected, resulting in loss of transmission torque to the rear wheels. Transmission torque is necessary to hold the vehicle in park and is also needed for the vehicle to move forward or backward.","document":{"url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2024/MC-11006038-0001.pdf","alternate_url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2024/MC-11006038-9999.pdf","confirmed":false},"url":"https://open.wenmarpro.com/bulletins/11006038","components":[{"id":"powertrain","name":"Transmission and driveline","parent":null}],"codes":[],"topics":[],"vehicles":[{"make":"FORD","model":"EXPLORER","year_from":2020,"year_to":2022,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2020_ford_explorer","2021_ford_explorer","2022_ford_explorer"]}],"as_of":"2026-10-19","note":"A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it.
