In case of retroactive validity (model year 2023 and older), affected customers will be informed about the change. This will be in the form of a direct-to-customer letter with a description of the new maintenance schedule, specific owner’s manual insert, and consumer warranty book insert. 1. For vehicles affected by SI 33 02 22 (SERVICE ACTION: Swingarm Drain retrofit and Driveshaft Check), this service action must be performed first. All conditions described in this bulletin apply after the open Service Action has been completed. No additional communication is required for K5x models model year 2024 and onwards. Those models have the new maintenance schedule in their owner’s manual.","document":{"url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2023/MC-10248094-0001.pdf","alternate_url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2023/MC-10248094-9999.pdf","confirmed":false},"url":"https://open.wenmarpro.com/bulletins/10248094","components":[{"id":"powertrain","name":"Transmission and driveline","parent":null}],"codes":[],"topics":["maintenance"],"vehicles":[{"make":"BMW","model":"R 1200 GS","year_from":2005,"year_to":2014,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2005_bmw_r-1200-gs","2006_bmw_r-1200-gs","2007_bmw_r-1200-gs","2008_bmw_r-1200-gs","2009_bmw_r-1200-gs","2010_bmw_r-1200-gs","2011_bmw_r-1200-gs","2012_bmw_r-1200-gs","2013_bmw_r-1200-gs","2014_bmw_r-1200-gs"]},{"make":"BMW","model":"R 1200 GS ADV","year_from":2006,"year_to":2007,"match":"base","vehicle_ids":["2006_bmw_r-1200-gs","2007_bmw_r-1200-gs"]},{"make":"BMW","model":"R 1200 GS ADV US","year_from":2010,"year_to":2010,"match":"base","vehicle_ids":["2010_bmw_r-1200-gs"]},{"make":"BMW","model":"R 1200 GS ADVENTURE","year_from":2005,"year_to":2014,"match":"base","vehicle_ids":["2005_bmw_r-1200-gs","2006_bmw_r-1200-gs","2007_bmw_r-1200-gs","2008_bmw_r-1200-gs","2009_bmw_r-1200-gs","2010_bmw_r-1200-gs","2011_bmw_r-1200-gs","2012_bmw_r-1200-gs","2013_bmw_r-1200-gs","2014_bmw_r-1200-gs"]},{"make":"BMW","model":"R 1200 GS ADVENTURE","year_from":2017,"year_to":2017,"match":"base","vehicle_ids":["2017_bmw_r-1200-gs"]},{"make":"BMW","model":"R 1200 R","year_from":2007,"year_to":2014,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2007_bmw_r-1200-r","2008_bmw_r-1200-r","2009_bmw_r-1200-r","2010_bmw_r-1200-r","2011_bmw_r-1200-r","2012_bmw_r-1200-r","2013_bmw_r-1200-r","2014_bmw_r-1200-r"]},{"make":"BMW","model":"R 1200 R US","year_from":2009,"year_to":2009,"match":"base","vehicle_ids":["2009_bmw_r-1200-r"]},{"make":"BMW","model":"R 1200 RT","year_from":2004,"year_to":2016,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2004_bmw_r-1200-rt","2005_bmw_r-1200-rt","2006_bmw_r-1200-rt","2007_bmw_r-1200-rt","2008_bmw_r-1200-rt","2009_bmw_r-1200-rt","2010_bmw_r-1200-rt","2011_bmw_r-1200-rt","2012_bmw_r-1200-rt","2013_bmw_r-1200-rt","2014_bmw_r-1200-rt","2015_bmw_r-1200-rt","2016_bmw_r-1200-rt"]},{"make":"BMW","model":"R 1200 RT (AUTHORITY)","year_from":2005,"year_to":2009,"match":"base","vehicle_ids":["2005_bmw_r-1200-rt","2006_bmw_r-1200-rt","2007_bmw_r-1200-rt","2008_bmw_r-1200-rt","2009_bmw_r-1200-rt"]},{"make":"BMW","model":"R 1200 RT US","year_from":2009,"year_to":2009,"match":"base","vehicle_ids":["2009_bmw_r-1200-rt"]},{"make":"BMW","model":"R 1200 S","year_from":2006,"year_to":2007,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2006_bmw_r-1200-s","2007_bmw_r-1200-s"]},{"make":"BMW","model":"R1200 GS","year_from":2004,"year_to":2011,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2004_bmw_r-1200-gs","2005_bmw_r-1200-gs","2006_bmw_r-1200-gs","2007_bmw_r-1200-gs","2008_bmw_r-1200-gs","2009_bmw_r-1200-gs","2010_bmw_r-1200-gs","2011_bmw_r-1200-gs"]},{"make":"BMW","model":"R1200 GS","year_from":2013,"year_to":2019,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2013_bmw_r-1200-gs","2014_bmw_r-1200-gs","2015_bmw_r-1200-gs","2016_bmw_r-1200-gs","2017_bmw_r-1200-gs","2018_bmw_r-1200-gs","2019_bmw_r-1200-gs"]},{"make":"BMW","model":"R1200 R","year_from":2006,"year_to":2008,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2006_bmw_r-1200-r","2007_bmw_r-1200-r","2008_bmw_r-1200-r"]},{"make":"BMW","model":"R1200 R","year_from":2011,"year_to":2011,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2011_bmw_r-1200-r"]},{"make":"BMW","model":"R1200 R","year_from":2015,"year_to":2019,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2015_bmw_r-1200-r","2016_bmw_r-1200-r","2017_bmw_r-1200-r","2018_bmw_r-1200-r","2019_bmw_r-1200-r"]},{"make":"BMW","model":"R1200 RS","year_from":2015,"year_to":2015,"match":"base","vehicle_ids":["2015_bmw_r-1200-r"]},{"make":"BMW","model":"R1200 RS","year_from":2016,"year_to":2019,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2016_bmw_r-1200-rs","2017_bmw_r-1200-rs","2018_bmw_r-1200-rs","2019_bmw_r-1200-rs"]},{"make":"BMW","model":"R1200 RT","year_from":2003,"year_to":2011,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2003_bmw_r-1200-rt","2004_bmw_r-1200-rt","2005_bmw_r-1200-rt","2006_bmw_r-1200-rt","2007_bmw_r-1200-rt","2008_bmw_r-1200-rt","2009_bmw_r-1200-rt","2010_bmw_r-1200-rt","2011_bmw_r-1200-rt"]},{"make":"BMW","model":"R1200 RT","year_from":2015,"year_to":2019,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2015_bmw_r-1200-rt","2016_bmw_r-1200-rt","2017_bmw_r-1200-rt","2018_bmw_r-1200-rt","2019_bmw_r-1200-rt"]}],"as_of":"2026-10-19","note":"A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it.
