Some vehicles may also exhibit an intermittent condition with no auto restart during auto-start-stop operation with or without diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P164C present in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to a worn variable camshaft timing (VCT) unit. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to replace the VCT units.","document":{"url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2023/MC-10236037-0001.pdf","alternate_url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2023/MC-10236037-9999.pdf","confirmed":false},"url":"https://open.wenmarpro.com/bulletins/10236037","components":[{"id":"engine","name":"Engine","parent":null},{"id":"powertrain","name":"Transmission and driveline","parent":null}],"codes":["P164C"],"topics":[],"vehicles":[{"make":"FORD","model":"EXPEDITION","year_from":2018,"year_to":2020,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2018_ford_expedition","2019_ford_expedition","2020_ford_expedition"]},{"make":"FORD","model":"F-150","year_from":2017,"year_to":2020,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2017_ford_f-150","2018_ford_f-150","2019_ford_f-150","2020_ford_f-150"]},{"make":"LINCOLN","model":"NAVIGATOR","year_from":2018,"year_to":2020,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2018_lincoln_navigator","2019_lincoln_navigator","2020_lincoln_navigator"]}],"as_of":"2026-10-19","note":"A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it.
