The guard minimizes the likelihood that fuel other than ultra-low sulfur diesel will be put into the vehicle. The misfueling guard is designed to remain in a locked position when a nozzle with a diameter typically suited for non-diesel fuels (approximately 13/16?, or 20.6mm) is inserted, to prevent further insertion of the nozzle into the filler neck. A nozzle with a larger diameter typically suited for diesel fuel (approximately 15/16?, or 23.8mm) will unlock the misfueling guard when inserted, allowing the nozzle to be further inserted into the filler neck.","document":{"url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2013/MC-10216676-0001.pdf","alternate_url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2013/MC-10216676-9999.pdf","confirmed":false},"url":"https://open.wenmarpro.com/bulletins/10216676","components":[{"id":"fuel-system","name":"Fuel system","parent":null}],"codes":[],"topics":[],"vehicles":[{"make":"AUDI","model":"A3","year_from":2013,"year_to":2013,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2013_audi_a3"]}],"as_of":"2026-10-19","note":"A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it.
