Vehicles built on or after 11-Nov-2015 are not equipped with a crankcase ventilation sensor (CRNKCSVT). This DTC may be caused by incorrect PCM programming. To correct the condition, start a new vehicle session using a computer with IDS that has not been previously connected to the vehicle. On the vehicle specification screen, answer NO when asked if the vehicle is correct. Enter the PCM tear tag and perform PCM software reprogramming. The IDS scan tool will ask to verify the style of the connector on the crankcase vent (CCV) hose. Answering this prompt incorrectly will cause DTC P04E3 to be stored in the PCM.","document":{"url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10191068-0001.pdf","alternate_url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10191068-9999.pdf","confirmed":false},"url":"https://open.wenmarpro.com/bulletins/10191068","components":[{"id":"powertrain","name":"Transmission and driveline","parent":null}],"codes":["P04E3"],"topics":[],"vehicles":[{"make":"FORD","model":"F-250 SD","year_from":2016,"year_to":2016,"match":"base","vehicle_ids":["2016_ford_f-250"]},{"make":"FORD","model":"F-350 SD","year_from":2016,"year_to":2016,"match":"base","vehicle_ids":["2016_ford_f-350"]},{"make":"FORD","model":"F-450 SD","year_from":2016,"year_to":2016,"match":"base","vehicle_ids":["2016_ford_f-450"]},{"make":"FORD","model":"F-550 SD","year_from":2016,"year_to":2016,"match":"base","vehicle_ids":["2016_ford_f-550"]}],"as_of":"2026-10-19","note":"A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it.
