Certain bodies are equipped with doors or box lids that contain aluminum hinge rods going through metal hinges that are manufactured from a different metal. Under some conditions the hinges can stick or seize due to salt solutions that damage the protective coating of the aluminum hinge rod. If the hinge rod seizes, it can cause damage to the hinge, door, or box lid. To protect the hinge rod from being damaged and seizing, clean the hinge rod and apply a corrosion inhibitor lubricant. A checklist and lubrication process is provided with the notification to include in the Preventive Maintenance and Inspection Checklist for future use.","document":{"url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10186580-0001.pdf","alternate_url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10186580-9999.pdf","confirmed":false},"url":"https://open.wenmarpro.com/bulletins/10186580","components":[{"id":"structure-body","name":"Body and frame","parent":null}],"codes":[],"topics":[],"vehicles":[{"make":"ALTEC","model":"SERVICE BODY","year_from":2012,"year_to":2018,"match":null,"vehicle_ids":[]}],"as_of":"2026-10-19","note":"A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it.
