The vehicle may also exhibit a lack of engine revolutions per minute (RPM), lack of acceleration on take off and/or shudder while driving. This may be due to the torque converter overheating causing damage to the torque converter as well as possible internal damage to the transmission. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to replace the torque converter and specified internal transmission components that may have been damaged.","document":{"url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10184634-0001.pdf","alternate_url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10184634-9999.pdf","confirmed":false},"url":"https://open.wenmarpro.com/bulletins/10184634","components":[{"id":"engine","name":"Engine","parent":null},{"id":"powertrain","name":"Transmission and driveline","parent":null},{"id":"automatic-transmission","name":"Automatic transmission","parent":"powertrain"}],"codes":[],"topics":[],"vehicles":[{"make":"FORD","model":"EXPLORER","year_from":2016,"year_to":2019,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2016_ford_explorer","2017_ford_explorer","2018_ford_explorer","2019_ford_explorer"]},{"make":"FORD","model":"EXPLORER POLICE INTERCEPT","year_from":2016,"year_to":2019,"match":"base","vehicle_ids":["2016_ford_explorer","2017_ford_explorer","2018_ford_explorer","2019_ford_explorer"]},{"make":"LINCOLN","model":"MKC","year_from":2015,"year_to":2019,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2015_lincoln_mkc","2016_lincoln_mkc","2017_lincoln_mkc","2018_lincoln_mkc","2019_lincoln_mkc"]}],"as_of":"2026-10-19","note":"A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it.
