Nearby residual EGR gas freezes the Electronic Throttle Valve (ETV) at cold ambient temperatures (approximately 23 F / -5 C). The frozen throttle valve causes MIL illumination for P2100 detection. This TSB provides field fix information on hard-to-start engine conditions or DTC P2100 detection (P2100: Disconnection on throttle valve control servo circuit). New ECM software modifies the EGR intake air activation temperature to avoid freezing the ETV and false P2100 detection.","document":{"url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2013/MC-10172188-0001.pdf","alternate_url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2013/MC-10172188-9999.pdf","confirmed":false},"url":"https://open.wenmarpro.com/bulletins/10172188","components":[{"id":"brakes","name":"Brakes","parent":null},{"id":"engine","name":"Engine","parent":null},{"id":"parking-brake","name":"Parking brake","parent":"brakes"}],"codes":["P2100"],"topics":[],"vehicles":[{"make":"MITSUBISHI","model":"OUTLANDER","year_from":2010,"year_to":2012,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2010_mitsubishi_outlander","2011_mitsubishi_outlander","2012_mitsubishi_outlander"]}],"as_of":"2026-10-19","note":"A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it.
