This could be caused, in part, by mechanical stress from opening and closing the rear power window, intrusion of debris, and use of the rear defroster. Over time, this condition could generate heat that could melt the areas surrounding the circuit. In rare instances, this heat could cause a non-propagating fire, increasing the risk of property damage or injury. Dealers will replace the buss bar covers and contact cover. If the rear window or sliding glass assembly appears damaged due to an occurrence of high electrical resistance on the rear defroster circuit, they should also be replaced.","document":{"url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10171416-0001.pdf","alternate_url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10171416-9999.pdf","confirmed":false},"url":"https://open.wenmarpro.com/bulletins/10171416","components":[{"id":"electrical","name":"Electrical system","parent":null},{"id":"powertrain","name":"Transmission and driveline","parent":null}],"codes":[],"topics":[],"vehicles":[{"make":"CHEVROLET","model":"SILVERADO","year_from":2017,"year_to":2017,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2017_chevrolet_silverado"]},{"make":"CHEVROLET","model":"SILVERADO 1500","year_from":2014,"year_to":2019,"match":"base","vehicle_ids":["2014_chevrolet_silverado","2015_chevrolet_silverado","2016_chevrolet_silverado","2017_chevrolet_silverado","2018_chevrolet_silverado","2019_chevrolet_silverado"]},{"make":"CHEVROLET","model":"SILVERADO 2500","year_from":2015,"year_to":2016,"match":"base","vehicle_ids":["2015_chevrolet_silverado","2016_chevrolet_silverado"]},{"make":"GMC","model":"SIERRA","year_from":2017,"year_to":2017,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2017_gmc_sierra"]},{"make":"GMC","model":"SIERRA 1500","year_from":2014,"year_to":2019,"match":"base","vehicle_ids":["2014_gmc_sierra","2015_gmc_sierra","2016_gmc_sierra","2017_gmc_sierra","2018_gmc_sierra","2019_gmc_sierra"]},{"make":"GMC","model":"SIERRA DENALI","year_from":2015,"year_to":2016,"match":"base","vehicle_ids":["2015_gmc_sierra","2016_gmc_sierra"]},{"make":"GMC","model":"SIERRA DENALI","year_from":2018,"year_to":2018,"match":"base","vehicle_ids":["2018_gmc_sierra"]}],"as_of":"2026-10-19","note":"A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it.
