If the prop shaft fractures, the vehicle will experience a loss of propulsion without warning. The customer may notice a loud bang upon fracture that will coincide with the loss of propulsion. If the prop shaft fractures while the vehicle is parked on a graded surface and the park brake is not engaged, roll away is possible. Dealer will replace prop shaft and fasteners.","document":{"url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10171248-0001.pdf","alternate_url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10171248-9999.pdf","confirmed":false},"url":"https://open.wenmarpro.com/bulletins/10171248","components":[{"id":"engine","name":"Engine","parent":null}],"codes":[],"topics":[],"vehicles":[{"make":"CHEVROLET","model":"SILVERADO 2500","year_from":2020,"year_to":2020,"match":"base","vehicle_ids":["2020_chevrolet_silverado"]},{"make":"GMC","model":"SIERRA 2500","year_from":2020,"year_to":2020,"match":"base","vehicle_ids":["2020_gmc_sierra"]}],"as_of":"2026-10-19","note":"A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it.
