Certain LD vehicles may have a condition in which the right-hand side, positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) tube may not be fully seated (loose), allowing unrestricted blow-by gases to release to the atmosphere. Customers may experience a whistling sound, or there may be an audible air leak. Disconnection of this line is monitored through the fuel trim diagnostics, and in a worst-case scenario, the customer may experience a check engine light with DTC codes P0171 and/or P0174. Dealers are to inspect and ensure the PCV tube to the right-hand rocker is fully seated and secure.","document":{"url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10169635-0001.pdf","alternate_url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10169635-9999.pdf","confirmed":false},"url":"https://open.wenmarpro.com/bulletins/10169635","components":[{"id":"engine","name":"Engine","parent":null},{"id":"equipment","name":"Equipment and accessories","parent":null},{"id":"fuel-system","name":"Fuel system","parent":null}],"codes":["P0171","P0174"],"topics":[],"vehicles":[{"make":"CHEVROLET","model":"SILVERADO 4500","year_from":2020,"year_to":2020,"match":"base","vehicle_ids":["2020_chevrolet_silverado"]},{"make":"GMC","model":"SIERRA 2500","year_from":2020,"year_to":2020,"match":"base","vehicle_ids":["2020_gmc_sierra"]}],"as_of":"2026-10-19","note":"A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it.
