Since 2007, the BMW Group has integrated NED (Non-electric Diagnosis) into diagnosis for the purpose of finding the cause of mechanical, acoustic, and visual problems. The advantages of using NED test modules are as follows: ? Most common mechanical, acoustic, and visual known issues can be diagnosed by the technician, saving diagnosis time. ? Video and sound files provide a reference when troubleshooting certain issues. ? By providing guided troubleshooting for these types of problems, it ensures that the customer's vehicle will get fixed the first time. ? Some of the test plans do not require vehicle communication (frees up an ICOM). All test modules can be executed via ISTA (Integrated Service Technical Application). Many NED test modules can now be performed with no car communication (NCC displayed in the test module list). With each subsequent ISTA version, additional NED test modules will be added. For a listing of all the applicable NED test modules, refer to the ISTA News \"\"New Content, Non Electric Diagnosis,\"\" which can be accessed from the ISTA start page. This document will be updated with each ISTA release.\"","document":{"url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2015/MC-10147695-9999.pdf","alternate_url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2015/MC-10147695-0001.pdf","confirmed":false},"url":"https://open.wenmarpro.com/bulletins/10147695","components":[{"id":"equipment","name":"Equipment and accessories","parent":null}],"codes":[],"topics":[],"vehicles":[{"make":"BMW","model":"BMW","year_from":null,"year_to":null,"match":null,"vehicle_ids":[]}],"as_of":"2026-10-19","note":"A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it.
