Adding stop leak products to the A/C system is not a recommended or approved Toyota repair process. During A/C service, moisture enters the A/C system, and can react with the previously added A/C stop leak, forming a gelatinous substance. The gel substance that forms can cause the A/C compressor to bind and or seize.","document":{"url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2017/MC-10142502-9999.pdf","alternate_url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2017/MC-10142502-0001.pdf","confirmed":false},"url":"https://open.wenmarpro.com/bulletins/10142502","components":[{"id":"equipment","name":"Equipment and accessories","parent":null},{"id":"hvac","name":"Heating and air conditioning","parent":null}],"codes":[],"topics":[],"vehicles":[{"make":"TOYOTA","model":"4RUNNER","year_from":2016,"year_to":2018,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2016_toyota_4runner","2017_toyota_4runner","2018_toyota_4runner"]},{"make":"TOYOTA","model":"86","year_from":2017,"year_to":2018,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2017_toyota_86","2018_toyota_86"]},{"make":"TOYOTA","model":"AVALON","year_from":2016,"year_to":2018,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2016_toyota_avalon","2017_toyota_avalon","2018_toyota_avalon"]},{"make":"TOYOTA","model":"C-HR","year_from":2017,"year_to":2017,"match":null,"vehicle_ids":[]},{"make":"TOYOTA","model":"C-HR","year_from":2018,"year_to":2018,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2018_toyota_c-hr"]},{"make":"TOYOTA","model":"CAMRY","year_from":2016,"year_to":2018,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2016_toyota_camry","2017_toyota_camry","2018_toyota_camry"]},{"make":"TOYOTA","model":"COROLLA","year_from":2016,"year_to":2018,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2016_toyota_corolla","2017_toyota_corolla","2018_toyota_corolla"]},{"make":"TOYOTA","model":"COROLLA IM","year_from":2017,"year_to":2017,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2017_toyota_corolla-im"]},{"make":"TOYOTA","model":"HIGHLANDER","year_from":2016,"year_to":2018,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2016_toyota_highlander","2017_toyota_highlander","2018_toyota_highlander"]},{"make":"TOYOTA","model":"LAND CRUISER","year_from":2016,"year_to":2018,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2016_toyota_land-cruiser","2017_toyota_land-cruiser","2018_toyota_land-cruiser"]},{"make":"TOYOTA","model":"MIRAI","year_from":2016,"year_to":2018,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2016_toyota_mirai","2017_toyota_mirai","2018_toyota_mirai"]},{"make":"TOYOTA","model":"PRIUS","year_from":2016,"year_to":2018,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2016_toyota_prius","2017_toyota_prius","2018_toyota_prius"]},{"make":"TOYOTA","model":"PRIUS C","year_from":2016,"year_to":2018,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2016_toyota_prius-c","2017_toyota_prius-c","2018_toyota_prius-c"]},{"make":"TOYOTA","model":"PRIUS V","year_from":2016,"year_to":2017,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2016_toyota_prius-v","2017_toyota_prius-v"]},{"make":"TOYOTA","model":"PRIUS V","year_from":2018,"year_to":2018,"match":"base","vehicle_ids":["2018_toyota_prius"]},{"make":"TOYOTA","model":"RAV4","year_from":2016,"year_to":2018,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2016_toyota_rav4","2017_toyota_rav4","2018_toyota_rav4"]},{"make":"TOYOTA","model":"RAV4 HYBRID","year_from":2017,"year_to":2017,"match":"base","vehicle_ids":["2017_toyota_rav4"]},{"make":"TOYOTA","model":"SEQUOIA","year_from":2016,"year_to":2018,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2016_toyota_sequoia","2017_toyota_sequoia","2018_toyota_sequoia"]},{"make":"TOYOTA","model":"SIENNA","year_from":2016,"year_to":2018,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2016_toyota_sienna","2017_toyota_sienna","2018_toyota_sienna"]},{"make":"TOYOTA","model":"TACOMA","year_from":2016,"year_to":2018,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2016_toyota_tacoma","2017_toyota_tacoma","2018_toyota_tacoma"]},{"make":"TOYOTA","model":"TUNDRA","year_from":2016,"year_to":2018,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2016_toyota_tundra","2017_toyota_tundra","2018_toyota_tundra"]},{"make":"TOYOTA","model":"VENZA","year_from":2016,"year_to":2016,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2016_toyota_venza"]},{"make":"TOYOTA","model":"YARIS","year_from":2016,"year_to":2018,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2016_toyota_yaris","2017_toyota_yaris","2018_toyota_yaris"]},{"make":"TOYOTA","model":"redundant RAV4 HV","year_from":2016,"year_to":2016,"match":null,"vehicle_ids":[]}],"as_of":"2026-10-19","note":"A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it.
