Under rare conditions during high-speed right-hand cornering when the engine is at light throttle and high RPM, engine oil can be forced into the Make Up Air hose, resulting in unintended oil consumption. Both of these conditions may compromise engine durability. Models IMPORTANT: Some of the involved vehicles may be in dealer vehicle inventory. Dealers should complete this repair on these vehicles before retail delivery. Dealers should also perform this repair on vehicles in for service. Involved vehicles can be determined by using the VIP inquiry process. To address the R28 portion of this CSN, the oil contamination issue, the engine oil, oil filter and air filter must be changed then the oil filter must be sent to FCA for analysis. If FCA?s analysis of the oil filter is positive for debris, the dealer will contact the customer to schedule replacement of the engine and related oil cooler components. If a new engine is not required, the dealer will contact the customer to inform them that they do not need to return to the dealership. To address R29 portion of this CSN, the oil consumption issue, an updated oil management system must be installed which includes a new valve cover assembly with a relocated make up air (MUA) fitting and new baffle.","document":{"url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2016/MC-10121918-9999.pdf","alternate_url":"https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2016/MC-10121918-0001.pdf","confirmed":false},"url":"https://open.wenmarpro.com/bulletins/10121918","components":[{"id":"engine","name":"Engine","parent":null}],"codes":[],"topics":[],"vehicles":[{"make":"DODGE","model":"VIPER","year_from":2013,"year_to":2014,"match":"exact","vehicle_ids":["2013_dodge_viper","2014_dodge_viper"]}],"as_of":"2026-10-19","note":"A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it.
