The fuel injector is fragile. If excessive force is applied when removing the electrical connector, the fuel injector may break, as shown in the photograph below. It is critical not to apply forceup, down, or side to side as you are pulling the connector off of the injector. Try not to wiggle the connector during removal. The locking tab can be easily disengaged by pressing it with your thumb.
