What is wrong

Issue:

On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse.

Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2025-233. Vehicles that were repaired under that recall also require this repair.

Safety Risk:

A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective Actions:

Volvo will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update to eligible vehicles to update the vehicle software. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the update performed at a Volvo dealership.

S10083-2021-03-12021-04-26. Service bulletin. Volvo Car USA LLC and Volvo Car Canada Ltd on behalf of Volvo Car Corporation, has decided to launch Service Action S10083 on certain Volvo XC40 Recharge Model Year 2021 vehicles. Volvo has identified that the rear wiper motor protected by a 5 ampere fuse instead of a 15 ampere fuse was mounted in the central junction box. There is a risk that the 5A fuse will blow earlier if put under too much strain, for instance when a rear wiper is blocked due to ice or snow build up. In a worst-case scenario, the fuse will blow and the rear wiper will not function. No DTC?s or DIM messages will be set if the fuse is blown. The corrective action is to replace the incorrect 5A fuse with a 15A fuse.

A bulletin is the manufacturer's note to its dealers. It is not part of this recall.
