## What is wrong

Issue:

On certain vehicles, a problem with the electric drive motor software could cause the vehicle to enter a fail\-safe mode. If this happens, there could be a loss of power to the wheels.

Note: This problem would cause a warning light to turn on and a warning message to be displayed.

Safety Risk:

A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective Actions:

BMW will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over\-the\-air software update to eligible vehicles to update the electric drive motor software. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the update performed at a BMW dealership.
