What is wrong

Issue:

On certain vehicles, the recall repairs completed by a Ford dealer during recall 24S44 (Transport Canada recall no. 2024-381) may not have been done correctly. As a result, a second repair is required.

On certain vehicles, a sensor in the steering gear may not have been calibrated properly. As a result, the steering wheel could suddenly turn from side to side by itself while turning. If this happens, there could be a loss of steering control.

Safety Risk:

A loss of steering control could create the risk of a crash.

Corrective Actions:

Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the power steering control module (PSCM) software.

SSM 506722022-04-13. Service bulletin. Some 2018-2022 Mustang vehicles (Non-Shelby) and built at Flat Rock Assembly may experience a clunk/pop type noise when turning the steering wheel. This may be due to an incorrectly installed upper spring seat which is part of the front strut assembly. To correct this condition, remove the suspect strut(s) from the vehicle and inspect the upper spring seat for damage and/or incorrect installation and repair as necessary. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 204-01. For claiming, use casual part 18124 and the applicable labor operations of Section 03 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
