What is wrong
Issue:
A previous over-the-air (OTA) software update could cause the vehicle not to display the correct visual warning indicators when there are problems with the brake system or when the parking brake is applied. As a result, the BRAKE, PARK, and antilock brake system (ABS) visual indicators would display as text instead of symbols.
Safety Risk:
While there is a low risk to safety, Canadian regulations require visual warnings to use common symbols, instead of words, to avoid driver confusion.
Corrective Actions:
Tesla will notify affected owners by email. Tesla has released an over-the-air software update to fix this problem. There is no further action required if your vehicle has software release 2024.3.25, 2024.14.5, or a release later than 2024.14.5.

Bulletins for the same vehicles and component
| SB19-20-003-R3 | 2023-12-18. Service bulletin. On some Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, the Occupant Classification System (OCS) signal might be affected by electrical interference in the seat electrical harness, causing the airbag indicator to display on the touchscreen. |
|---|---|
| SB-21-17-003 | 2021-05-24. Service bulletin. On some Model Y vehicles, the color of the red band that surrounds the LH and RH taillights do not match because the vehicle has Revision D for the LH taillight (Figure 1) which has a darker tint, and the right side has Revision C (Figure 2) which has a lighter tint. This is only a cosmetic issue that does not affect the performance of the taillights. |
| SB1917011 | 2019-11-25. Service bulletin. Certain Model 3 vehicles ordered with front fog lights were delivered without the front fog lights. |
| SB-19-11-001 | 2019-02-19. Service bulletin. On certain Model S vehicles, the liftgate has plugs that do not allow water to drain, causing condensation to build up inside the tail light assembly. Tail light functionality is not affected. The retrofit of updated drain-type liftgate plugs allows water to escape the liftgate and keep the tail lights dry. |
A bulletin is the manufacturer's note to its dealers. It is not part of this recall.
