A recall listed here may apply to a vehicle of this year, make and model. Only the manufacturer can say whether it applies to one vehicle: check the VIN with the official lookups.

- Published by: Transport Canada \(Canada\)
- Campaign number: 2022364
- Manufacturer's number: 65 80 22RC
- Reported: 2022\-07\-07
- Component: Airbag
- Notification type: Safety Mfr
- Units potentially affected: 745

## What is wrong

Issue:

On certain vehicles, the air bag control unit may not work properly due to a software error. As a result, the airbag warning light and warning messages may not turn on when there is a problem with the airbag system or the pedestrian protection system.

Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall 2022\-183. Vehicles that were repaired under that recall also require this repair.

Safety Risk:

An airbag system that does not work properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash.

Corrective Actions:

BMW will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the airbag control unit software. To reduce the safety risk, BMW recommends that you should not transport any passengers until the recall repairs have been completed.
