What is wrong

Issue:

On certain scooters, the material of brake hose connections could cause a chemical reaction with the brake fluid. This can cause reduced braking, and an increase in travel of the brake lever and brake pedal that is required to stop the scooter.

Safety Risk:

Reduced braking can cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective Actions:

Piaggio will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your scooter to a dealer to flush and replace the brake fluid.

Dear Dealer / Service Center, We hereby inform you that, on a specific lot of 2019 MP3 500 LT ABS, it is necessary to perform a technical update by adjusting the brake pedal master cylinder adjuster, in order to restore the correct play between the brake pedal and the master cylinder. Concern: Integral brake pedal master cylinder linkage may have inadequate free play, resulting in residual brake pressure being applied to the rear brake caliper.

A bulletin is the manufacturer's note to its dealers. It is not part of this recall.
