What is wrong
On certain motorcycles, the bolts fastening the drive-chain guard to the swing arm may loosen and allow for the guard to contact the drive chain. If this were to occur, the drive-chain guard could break and create a potential road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the fasteners for the drive-chain guard.

Bulletins for the same vehicles and component
| M2020-004 | 2020-05-02. Service bulletin. The drive chain guard rattles while riding. There is a gap between the drive chain guard and rear arm bracket even when the mounting bolts are tightened. This allows the drive chain guard to move and make a rattling noise due to engine vibration and road conditions. To prevent the rattling noise the factory has developed a rubber damper to absorb the drive chain guard vibration. |
